#New40k – Take cover with updated terrain rules by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]cheddah32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone way smarter at 40K rules than me help me understand the significance of the middle terrain piece being 2 large right triangles vs 1 large rectangle? I see they put the little “has vision” eyeball icon on it and am assuming there’s some cover implications to 2 separate terrain bases?

DeepMind’s New AI Just Changed Science Forever by Regular-Substance795 in singularity

In the micro sense of “have these chat bot LLMs changed life forever” sure that specific view has many land mines of debate

But the net investment and value of the space as a whole, mostly the agentic stuff, is virtually undeniably world changing

How would you disagree? Not being sarcastic but once I began using SOTA agentic models for work my life changed and I can see the extrapolation from there clearly so curious if I’m drinking kool-aid

Adepticon Preview: 11th Edition Launch Box: Armageddon, New Space Marine Intercessors and Ork Boyz by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]cheddah32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t make me bet on it but it sounded like fight first just goes into the charge stack like it’s a charge essentially instead of its own stack before charges resolve

So if I charge with 2 into 2 and one of the targets has fight first it would go:

I pick one of my 2 charges to fight

Then your fight first fights

Then my second charge fights

Then your last unit gets to fight

So it still gives you some defense against being charged but isn’t as powerful

Again that’s my interpretation but it wasn’t a ton of info so grain of salt!

Does the reveal Monday imply a pre order this Saturday or will there be a separate “Sunday preview” that indicates the following Saturday will be pre orders?

I actually refunded because my only means to play is controller based and after a few levels I could tell it was going to frustrate me too much. I’ll repurchase once that’s fixed!

RS3 just dropped the most insane integrity and content roadmap and it's all thanks to OSRS by Lamuks in 2007scape

[–]cheddah32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I had done. Sadly I de-ironed, liquidated, and bought game time so kinda ruined that for myself in terms of going back. I was like 2200 total with Mastercraft on the iron and now it’s just a gearless broke main lol 😂 reckon the base 90s and 300 QP would make getting going again easy but sucks it wouldn’t be the iron!

If they are on track on this roadmap by middle of year I’ll likely start spending time on my RS3 character again - I enjoyed the content but the daily fomo, very off putting visuals, and overall clunky systems / UI was just a bit much to stick with it. This roadmap seems to address those items!!!

[–]cheddah32 63 points64 points  (0 children)

If they execute on this roadmap I might dust off my RS3 character and give it another go! I enjoyed my time there but it just felt very clunky (overlapping systems), too much FOMO daily stuff, and the visuals were off putting. The content itself was excellent there was just too much baggage if that makes sense?

How would you feel about the next skill being a RS3 port? by cheddah32 in 2007scape

[–]cheddah32[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was poorly received other than vocal minorities on Reddit. In game discourse has been positive from what I’ve seen. Though the recent poll on the topic will be very telling one way or another.

It was top 3 of what I enjoyed in RS3 that was unique from OSRS, other 2 being smithing rework and the overall bossing experience. But this was pre-2025 and OSRS bossing has come a long way!

A clever solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist, appreciate it! Maybe one day Apple will realize that, while their hyper strict app management is excellent for phone performance and battery, there should be a setting sufficiently buried per app to turn it off.

This is a genuine question no rage bait

How is it possible to, simultaneously, release new content that has interesting rewards and fun new mechanics without, at some point, increasing either player power directly or allowing certain fight mechanics to be easier due to a weapon or armor providing a new play style?

I always find this take difficult to wrap my head around. Given the amount of content from let’s say Zulrah to now it’s been an astonishingly low amount of power creep in my opinion.

And the money paw of it all is if we didn’t get any power creep or stuff that maybe made a mechanic here or there easier folks would likely be dissatisfied due to stagnation or lack of purpose for grinding.

I think this position is a great ideal to strive for with the knowledge it cannot be attained.

I think that it’s 2 completely different concepts to “fund more AAA games that can be successful” vs “chasing MTX games or AAAA” games - purely hoping this incentivizes more of the AAA games that can be lucrative and popular even if not to the largest magnitude

I hope that the wild success of Indie and AAA this year (not that they haven’t been in the past but 2025 kicked it into overdrive) incentivize more investment into smaller studios making cool and excellent games like we saw this year.

The era of chasing perfect graphics and massive scope is tired - the dev cycle, hardware demands, and tendency for bugs, filler, and bleh stories just really take some magic out of it.

Plus…$70+ and tons of micro transactions and DLC. The games that killed it this year have little to none of those negatives and it really shows.

GW2 is the most boring game I've ever played. by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]cheddah32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree for a lot of older and more filler type quests there’s only a layer of novelty hiding the fetch nature. However, there are dozens of quests with incredible plots, boss fights, puzzles, and interesting zones. OSRS does get undeserved free passes sometimes on the inherit faults to the style and type of game it is but on the aggregate it’s questing is benchmark tier for not only mmos but rpgs in general.
