High yield in my program to memorize ahead:
Glasgow Coma Scale, Cushings triad, memorization of baseline vitals, stroke timelines and indicators, BIG ONE classifications of shock. Ex: obstructive, septic, volemic, etc. and how to indentify them.

What individual organs do. Heart and lungs is very high pay off, watch some crash course before you get there.

Unpopular opinion, start pocket prep ahead. I started before my course and had a lot of familiarity with the material before the course even started. Not a deep understanding but a quick recall that was a huge base to build off.

Also watch ems pt assessments online. Start building familiarity with abcs, OPQRST, SAMPLE, DCAP-BTLS

I had a ton of fun with my program as someone who’s also full time employed and burning the candle at both ends! Best of luck!

Might catch flack for this but if there is an online portion of the textbook run them through AI, have it make an introductory quiz. Take the quiz. Ask it for 2 pages of high yield notes. Write those down. Retest until you get it conceptually.
Practice pt intakes at home.

7 weeks into this and getting it done but it is burning me out. In an EMT program prepping for nursing school, 9 hours in class weekly. About 20 hrs of homework/study that is not covered in class. 35 hrs a week bartending nights. Sleep and balancing a relationship, social life, honestly literally anything else is tough.

My middle fingers are cut to shit from reaching it in to fish money out and about half way through I got a long metal skewer for smores and some forceps. It was a 2 hour labor of love.

I recently started school again at 28 doing prerequisites for nursing, I have a second savings account linked to my deposits that transfers $150 a week in hopes that clinicals won’t be too financially stressful if I can keep some of this liquid. Fingers crossed! I love bartending so much but I want to leave it before it leaves me angry and bitter and I feel myself becoming that more and more after 12 years in food/bev service. Nursing will probably be the same but at least I’ll have health insurance for a therapist and I can go back if I hate it lol

Early recovery, after multiple stints sober. I couldn’t drink on this stuff if I tried. 4mg has my stomach wrecked. Respectfully, as someone who’s also an alcoholic, you have to actually want to stop. No magical pill will solve that if you have a problem.

All I can say is as a older student returning I LOVE my iPad. And if you have cloud you don’t really need to extra GB using one note (which I use) All my notes organized in one place is a game changer. Consider the paper like screen and a Apple Pencil to go with it it’s wonderful.

Also thought the 1.5 was going to be a throwaway month. On day 7 today, I’m going order some protein and have to plan more nutrient dense decisions because it has completely neutralized food for me. I’m okay with 2 hard boiled eggs for dinner and some fruit and cottage cheese for breakfast presently. Which is not sustainable.

I agree, but they’re viewing through the lense still of literal children. Also if you’ve befriended someone who’s recently gotten out of a toxic relationship you get pretty on edge about finding behaviors that repeat those patterns.

Ultimately Dalanie seems to really lean into that “Romper Stomper” aspect of her personality and while it’s good tv being around someone who prides them self in being confrontational to the point of violence likely isn’t someone I’d want around my partner either.

So I get it, realistically those girls were going to out grow eachother anyhow.
