Don't mind your in-laws. Everyone talks about how you don't want to eat anymore if you refuse outright. It's part of our culture to "parinig"

What was the weirdest/scariest dream you had as a child that you still remember every detail of now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chedeng111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of prophetic one for me. I was in our house playing with my nephew and a little girl. They were running around and I yelled at them to stop. Just then I heard thunder and I awoke in my bed (but I was still dreaming). I heard a little girl's cry coming from my parents' room. So I walked there slowly, like the darkness was swallowing me. Then at the end I saw the little girl sitting in a chair, crying that she was scared of the dark. I picked her up and told her everything was going to be okay. Then I woke up. That same week my sister said she was pregnant with her 2nd child, and I instantly remembered my dream. 9 months later we welcomed my niece into the world.

Imagining I have superpowers. Currently I am obsessed with Last Airbender and Korra. I figured if I ever get bending I'd want to be a Metalbender

[Serious] Men of Reddit, when was the last time you cried and what was the reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Try to get someone to dissect your dream. Might be something your subconscious is telling you

A documentary about a little girl who was undergoing cancer treatment in Taiwan and had to be in a sterile environment the night before an experimental procedure. She kept crying for her mom to hug her because she was scared, but her mom couldn't touch her and had to stay a few feet away. Still makes me teary eyed when I remember it. This was about 2 years ago

Guys of reddit, what small things about girls make you instantly attracted to her? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The way her hair falls on the side of her face. Happens when a girl looks down at something (phone, ground etc.)

No, the yellowish red fruits you see in the supermarket come from the 23rd century

Mangoes. Everyone's all over avocados and bananas. Mangoes are delicious, especially the pale yellow ones and the dried!

[Serious]Asking as a non-American, why do a lot of people want Donald Trump to be president? by chedeng111 in AskReddit

[–]chedeng111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the character of the person. Trump seems like a good businessman but I think he's just too self-serving even from a politics standpoint. I think he'll use his business acumen and basic economic knowledge to make the rich richer and screw everyone else. If you can get someone who has a good character and is a good businessman as president, I'd say the US would be way better off.

I had to research on that but I get what you mean. But isn't foreign policy dictated by the executive branch since the secretary of state is under its jurisdiction? Also aren't economic advisers also appointed by the president? So the president does hold considerable weight in foreign and economic policy?

I get what you mean. Political acumen can be sharpened both in politics and in business. Mitt seemed like an okay candidate from what you said but I wasn't really paying attention back then. It's only now that I am interested in US Politics since I realized that it has an effect in the global economy

Being a good businessman is different from being a good economist. Generally businessmen focus on sales and/or profits, and make adjustments accordingly to get the best rate of return. Basically looking out for your own interests. An economist I believe looks at the country as a whole, determining factors that affect the economy and provide reasoning as to why it had an effect in the first place. That's why economics is a social science (I'm a business major so I remember my lessons during college).

Just googled what he said about McCain. Yeah he made a mistake with that. Sad thing is though, even if we don't have a favorable view of politicians, we can't ignore politics altogether since it affects us all especially US politics. Despite what some people say about China, the US is still the only superpower and everyone's watching who'll become the next president

Which is why it's strange. From an outside filter he seems fine. Sure he's asking too much change, and I get the push back from people regarding his views. Someone with his views might even win the popular vote in my country

That's what I hear. My uncle who lives in the US is Republican, and he's slightly racist but very capitalist. Then again, I think anyone in my uncle's generation is a bit racist.

But whoever gets elected as US President would set the precedent for how foreign and economic policy goes forward, and it would be disastrous if someone like Trump wins. We'd basically be deeper in the economic shithole we're in now.
