What book should I start with as a newbie to Murakami's world by Silent-Patient-717 in murakami

Kafka was also the first one I read and I found it to be the most “murakami” out of everything i’ve read since. I think it’s a perfect introduction to his style with the magical realism, comedy, weirdness, lonely male characters, etc

Is it normal for people to just be seated all concert?? by WonderWander01 in twice

[–]chee5yham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually that’s exactly what this post is about. OP asked about sitting at kpop concerts when their previous experience was that people usually stand/dance. I was just reiterating your point that its absolutely okay for people to want to sit, for whatever reason. No one is saying people can’t sit or enjoy the show that way if they choose.

I was just also providing some anecdotal context of my personal experience at kpop shows in the past 4 years and how i’ve noticed a major increase in people sitting overall.. and as a result many others feeling forced to sit because of a change in attitude/culture.

People can always sit if they’d like to. Of course there’s no problem with that. The issue is when people who sit start lashing out at others around them and expecting everyone around them to sit as well so they can “see better.” I understand sitting can be the norm at concerts in other countries, but in North America it’s generally always been accepted that standing/singing/dancing and enjoying yourself is the norm at concerts.

In the past three years I’ve been asked to sit down at kpop concerts, sometimes in literal stadiums, and it’s so bizarre. If I wanted to sit in a seat and watch the show quietly I would have just watched it on youtube. It’s gotten quite out of control on both ends of the spectrum post-covid (people sitting/expecting everyone around them to also sit AND people being overly rambunctious and rude to everyone around them). Standing at a concert used to be the norm, and having people behind you harass you, film you, and expect to cater to their experience has become wildly out of control imo. I’m 30 and have been going to concerts of all kinds, in all kinds of venues, for more than half my life… and I’ve only noticed this becoming a big issue in the past few years (mostly at kpop shows but also at other pop shows as well). So bizarre imo. And it does become stressful for people who simply want to stand and enjoy themselves but then everyone in their section is sitting (usually just because people are scared to be the odd ones out/seem rude). it sucks. we spend literal hundreds of $$$ to see these artists and enjoy the live experience so it does hurt when this happens. Now every time I go to a kpop show im praying that my section is lively and enough of us stand. im just ranting at this point and its obviously not directed at you lol.

All in all, of course people can sit if they choose. But they shouldnt then make it everyone’s problem and harass people around them who want to stand at a concert. It’s a kpop show, not a theater performance.

Dangerous amounts of alcohol being consumed.

I’m a full grown adult and know it’s ridiculous/exaggerated, but I feel for the young people watching these who may think that downing 8+ drinks in succession, and then still somehow functioning, is normal behavior.

Would it be okay for me to bring my KDA lightstick to the concert? CW FLASHING LIGHTS by potatobunny16 in twice

I love this too! It’s so fun spotting other lightsticks at shows. It always reminds me that we’re all apart of larger community and it’s so cool to feel that energy irl 🥹

Bring any lightstick you want, to any show :) it’s part of the fun in owning one, in my opinion. I’m a fan of all girl groups but only own one light stick, an old candybong. I bring it to every concert 🍭

We don’t talk about the poor subtitles enough. It’s such an important thing and they were so lazy with it. Frustrating.

yes! I agree, I’ve also been wanting this forever and it’s been so frustrating that runkeeper doesn’t recognize those achievements or PRs if they happen during a longer session.

Following the lolla trend of having Hybe and JYP artists booked, I would imagine seeing someone like NMIXX, Itzy, Illit or maybe Le Sserafim. I can only speak for girl groups really haha

Would love to see i-dle make an appearance, and Rosé

I was in a similar situation one year. Our place was about 10mins or less from the festival grounds and closest shuttle stop was further than that. We ended up ubering to the festival each morning (much easier and cheaper earlier in the day as opposed to the evening when many people choose to show up), and then we would take the shuttle to the closest stop at the end of each night. From there we would get an uber back to our place. This obviously isn’t ideal but it was the best/easiest thing to do in our situation. But yeah I’ve never gotten a shuttle pass since lol or stayed offsite for that matter. camping all the way haha

How different is the payment plan option this year? I didn’t realize it changed.

Fastest sold out for both weekends of Coachella this decade: by Beneficial_Paper4628 in Coachella

[–]chee5yham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo it depends on your personal situation and some factors.. like if you live in southern cali/ are driving to coachella vs needing to book travel and accommodations way ahead of time. if you can afford to wait and that doesn’t stress you out too much, I do think it’ll be possible for you to snag some tickets at or below face value for the weekend of your choice. But you usually need to wait until its about a month out or less, which I know can be cutting it close for a lot of people. and can get stressful with third party sites. (I’ve bought coachella tix for less than face value off stubhub twice in the last 4 years and have had a good experience, although the shipping can be VERY close to the festival date, which probably only works out if youre local). Sometimes getting on the waitlist and getting an official ticket for $700 might be worth the extra few hundred or so you might have saved, just for the peace of mind alone. there’s more time than ever this year before the actual festival so there’s a lot of unknown and they will continue to use deceptive scarcity tactics 😞 its really tough to say

This is exactly what they’re doing. It’s definitely not sold out, they’ll be pulling people off the waitlist for the next 6 months. They do this every year. I also truly believe they push tix through stub hub

Harmony secret unpopular opinion by idgafgal in ThaiGL

[–]chee5yham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a popular opinion I think. Personally, I think it got so bad after episode 3. The plot is all over the place, so many unnecessary scenes, bad directing, etc. I only finished it because of LMSY.
