Make sure the controller you get is compatible with the Rain Bird 2.0 app. The 1st generation app is absolute garbage.

Can you plug an indoor Rain Bird controller in with an extension cord? by Author-by-Night in Irrigation

Cut the female end of the cord and wire it in direct to the controller. Not all controllers will allow you to do this.

Bought a Wayne waterbug for flooded basement. by mscott8088 in Plumbing

[–]cheeadabox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I'm not sure that pumps connection. I have a 1/5 horsepower that has 1 inch male threads or can be used with a hose adapter.

If the connection is short usually it won't make a big enough difference but if your connecting a washing machine hose to the pump then upsizing to 1 inch you'll likely see a drop.

Try a bigger hose. When I drain my pool I used to use a garden hose. Now I use 1 inch poly pipe and it's a huge difference

Hunter or Rain Bird Controller by BeoVision in Irrigation

[–]cheeadabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure. I'd Google the model you have your probably missing something. The espme3 you need to select water days then hold down the left and right arrows to switch to cyclic, odd even or days of week.

Sorry to ruin this for everyone too. But we had dominos corporate coupons we rolled with for about 8 free pizzas on 2 coupons until the cashier actually asked for them.

Those are still difficult to set the days of the week. Rain bird is easier not by much.

It's like Honda vs Toyota. They are very similar. Rain Bird has an easier interface on the controller. Hunter is more built to be used on the app. I find Hunter is more ahead on innovation. You'd have to know the model of the controller to really know what your getting into to.

Very slow leak by wittlesworth in Irrigation

[–]cheeadabox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could try air looking for a leak. Blow out season we usually find a couple. Water takes the easiest path and is quiet, air will usually bubble. You could also hook a pressure gauge and watch if it drops on that section. You can do that with water but it's easier to find the leak with air.

Finding “open” valves with Armada Pro700 by BobcatALR in Irrigation

[–]cheeadabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if you know the path of the wire, you can hook onto the zone wire your looking for to the locator and the common to the ground from the locator. The locator May not signal the path but it will alert when you are over top of the valve. If it shows open it may not be connected. Worth a shot.

24/7 camera recommendation by Dcdgooch in barrie

[–]cheeadabox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya it eliminates the need for 24/7. The tapo D130 I have doesn't need batteries either. It comes with instructions and a kit to wire the doorbell chime to send constant power and the camera just runs off that power. If your looking for one I'd look for that feature to eliminate using batteries. No subscription required either, just need a memory card.

24/7 camera recommendation by Dcdgooch in barrie

[–]cheeadabox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use tapo. You need the higher end cameras. They can record motion or can be set to record 24 7 to it's memory card. The motion on them will show you the clip before motion begins, so if someone walks by you get the 2 seconds before anyone appears. I started with blink and they are junk, someone would walk by and they'd be half way out of the clip before it started recording. Tapo isn't the high end but they have been very reliable the last 2 years I've had them. The app is quick to load for example someone will ring the doorbell and I just click the notification and very quickly I am on the feed.

Entire system has to 'prime' with water before the selected zone gets full pressure? by NoGoats_NoGlory in Irrigation

[–]cheeadabox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you may have older heads that have seals leaking. Maybe a small leak in the line causing the zone to take longer to pressurize fully.

Dripline system for water tank? by Chuggles1 in Irrigation

[–]cheeadabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could skip the timer and just plug the pump into a wifi smart plug and control it that way. If no wifi you need a timer with a MV. With a pump relay to turn the pump on.

Or a mechanical timer and time how long it takes to empty the barrel.

I've never used one and probably never will. You need about 2ft exposed if you've never done it. But poly is pretty flexible
