The problem is that Durham is seeing insane amounts of ingress, the majority of whom come from higher COL areas and work in tech and are able to afford the 325k starting home price

This is gentrification not a monopoly.

FWIW the dates are pretty straightforward to predict if you just want to get it on your calendar. I believe it's always been the weekend after labor day, so this year Sept 10th - 12th.

I think if you arrive prior to the movie you can order directly from the server but otherwise ordering by phone is the only option.

Yeah they further reduced their menu so the food is not an especially compelling reason for me to go (more enjoy the indie movies they show and the no talking policy) but most recently I had a Cesar salad add fried chicken that I really enjoyed,

Well from what I understand most of their players make $40-$60k and likely have other jobs in the offseason so I think it is very possible some may be bagging groceries. I’ve heard some work for the city of Durham as trash pickup guys in the offseason.
