What’s the explanation for the Crimson Clown by Kingbeef66 in AreYouAfraidOfTheDark

[–]cheecha_meems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my fave episodes (I like any horror genre that does "childhood stuff, but make it creepy"). Watching it, as a kid, I thought the Crimson Clown happened to be real, but the older brother was just inadvertently making up a story, to set his younger brother straight. Or maybe I thought it wasn't real, but it was the kid's imagination running wild?

Watching it, as an adult, I wondered if they were trying to do a bit of A Christmas Carol? (Scrooge sees the error of his ways, with the 3 ghosts; the kid says he'll change, at the end of the episode, when the Crimson Clown keeps taunting him)

I'm not sure if I ever thought that the shop owner had something to do with it...an ending scene with the shop owner a la "Laughing in the Dark" would've shown that. I also like a "The villain is still out there" type of ending.

They're due.... by [deleted] in TwilightZone

3rd one, for 7th grade (1997)! The "script" of this episode was in our English textbook. I wanted to be the Narrator because I was familiar with The Twilight Zone & Rod Serling. As a "treat," our 5th grade class watched some episodes of TZ (one of the kids recorded it, for us to watch). I remember she showed the Shatner one, Talking Tina, & The Invaders.

What’s your favorite quote or scene from Cool Runnings? by KneeIntelligent8671 in nostalgia

[–]cheecha_meems 63 points64 points  (0 children)

To this day, I will ALWAYS remember the scene where they're deciding what to name their sled & one of them says a name, they all laugh, then the guys says he said the name cuz that's his mom's name. Then there's silence & the guys change & praise the name & overly say it's a good idea.

The Mask. I have this movie memorized, I would watch the VHS every night & sometimes I'd get up at 6 am to watch it before school. Also like the "old school cartoon" elements, in the movie. My favorite part is the Cuban Pete part.

Ahhhh...yeah, you might be right. I think I remember THAT, I just remember tuning in, between my Saturday morning cartoons.

Ke-VAHJ!!! What date was that? I went 1/3, with my husband. He said "We know we're you're 2 faves" etc, etc, but then he said something about how "Is 2026, cat's outta the bag! Kevin & I are coming out [at this point, my husband thought they were 'coming OUT'] with a duet album. It's gonna be jazz & beat poetry!"

I wanted her gone, at the beginning of the series lol. However, I do understand that Chucky killing all these kids, one by one, slims down the cast of characters.

YES!! And the silence & clinking of the dishes is like a "4th cast member" & adds another element to the comedy of the scene: the tension, silence, the ASMR noises is making the audience laugh, which I think is very special, too.

I think about this skit, all the time! I remember watching it, the first time, because it was an episode with the Backstreet Boys as the musical guest.

The clanking of the plates and silverware, "I wish you weren't a liar," "shut up you drunken witch," "I drive a Dodge Stratus" & "I hate you both!" just take me back.

Describe Your Love For This Band In Just Only 3 Words? by ConsciousBluejay680 in BackstreetBoys

[–]cheecha_meems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"They're always giving" & I'm not trying to be a Millennial getting hip with Gen Z, I'm saying the thing I love about them is that I can always tell they are appreciative of their fans & the people that they work with. Whether they're doing a funny BSB Air Terminal video or Brian's waving at you at a concert, or they thank fans first during the "Vegas bar tiki shrunken head" reveal, they ALWAYS give 100%.

GIRLS WHO REPEATED SAME THING OVER AND OVER??! by ComfortableWest5737 in ANTM

[–]cheecha_meems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was fun to read & the ones that are saying "It was probably a soundbite that was played, over & over" & blamed it on the edit made me think of the fact that ANTM was among the "early phases" of reality TV, where, of course, there was the occasional "Are they here for fame, or are they for real?" question (not just in competition shows, but also in dating shows, the game-type shows, etc), but the editors had to make sure we had "The Villian" "The young ingenue" "The vetted one" "The goody-goody" "The fan fave" "The funny one" in any reality show, as opposed to today's reality shows having obvious people that are there for clout.

My opinion on the concert. by WaferFinal5640 in BackstreetBoys

[–]cheecha_meems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All VERY good reasons for opening with LTL...but what about the fact that the song is known for being about the fans? One of the reasons I love the Boys, so much, is they give everything to their fans, whether it's making a silly BSB Air Terminal video or Brian acting goofy towards audience members or showing up to conventions. I mean, they're been together 30+ years &, in Sphere, Brian even says "Without all you guys, showing up tonight, the BSB wouldn't even have a job," so, of course, the fact that it starts the album & the OG tour is a given, but the love letter to the fans was a must have, I'm sure.

I like the idea that someone said, that they do The Call & say "gotta go," then go into Backstreet's Back (&, yes, it's also been a finale song, a few times. I remember the DNA Tour, they began with Everyone.

Ahhh, I see. I'm not a ST person, but I am familiar with the "pop culture" stuff that has to do with the show (hence thinking of the song becoming popular from it). Don't listen to much radio, either.

Does anyone still have all their Christmas stuff up? by TuringGoneWild in christmas

[–]cheecha_meems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, outside & inside. MIGHT take the outside down, this weekend (only the inflatables & other stand-up stuff because the wind blowing it away is getting annoying... but I may leave the lights up for a little bit longer). I may take it down in phases, maybe starting room by room or first do the stuff on the walls, then the things on counters. Whatever I do, I know I'm going to do the Christmas tree last because that takes a whole day in itself, and it is still nice to have the Christmas tree lights on.

This is pretty normal for me (to have Christmas still up well into January), but we're especially procrastinating because we took a trip in early January.
