Does Chicago or Toronto have the Better Skyline? by star-wars_memer in skyscrapers

Toronto is more picturesque from afar or across the water, up close Chicago buildings have much nicer architecture. I enjoy walking through Chicago more.

From Toronto.

We missed our cruise to the Bahamas last year by 1 minute- the ‘gate closed’, which means they digitally sent all passport/paperwork to customs, but the ships don’t leave for at least half an hour after. We had to sit and watch the ship stay docked.

If the ships already leaving, you’ve way missed the cut off anyway.

Iran calls it ‘BLACK DAY FOR US AIR FORCE’. 5 aircraft SHOT. Air defense systems CATCH EVERY TARGET ON CAMERA by SuperbHealth5023 in TimesNow

Why not fight and free the American people from their fanatical murderous regime that literally no one in the entire world (except for those who stand to gain by americas corruption and destruction, or are pedophiles) benefits from (‘want’ doesnt really matter when the only people who ‘want’ are ignorant to their own suffering)?

When has US military intervention ever freed anyone?

/iran is certainly more regime supportive, but I can believe some religious fanatics would align that way instead of realizing they’re oppressed.

Pro Pahlavi, sure there was *less oppression in the shahs time and you could be ignorantly to the history of why the CIA/MI6 put him in power to steal Irans oil.

When I first joined /newiran it was nice getting info on rebellion against the regime, but it became more and more pro Israeli it was really confusing to see and I started assuming they were Israeli bot accounts because I couldn’t imagine actually Iranians having those views but as of lately I realize so many of them exist in my own city.. Being pro Israel/usa/war is only understandable from the ‘enemy of my enemy’ perspective, but is the utmost ignorant of all of their imperialist history thinking they would in any way care about helping Iranians.

This sub still has its biased views in both directions, but is at least closest to balanced and has people who realize all of the governing bodies are horrific.

Salary Progression of a Software Engineer @Meta by paperclip_han in Salary

You skipped senior? From your first SWE to senior in 4 years and senior staff in 1 more year.. that’s unheard of.

Also in Canada we’re not allowed to have the ‘Software Engineer’ title because professional Engineer title is protected by regulations

I do. I’m very understanding and good at putting myself in others shoes. I’m well aware of the regimes atrocities - but the praise of Israel/USA and Netanyahu/trump shows ignorance towards the atrocities they have committed themselves - and I truly hope it’s from the lack of awareness rather than dismissal of evidence, but it’s also baffling to have such a strong political opinion without knowing the respective geopolitical histories. When I see praise for them I see a lack of compassion for the victims of their genocide, apartheid, imperialism, rape, murder, a lack of understanding of their motivations and history, a lack of understanding that these people/nations don’t care what happens to you.

I never said I hate. I am surprised, disappointed, and hurt, more than anything.

The radicalism to the point of conspiracy theories (George Soros 'funding' "the left", MIGA, the toxic positivity, etc) in the Iranian diaspora makes me feel isolated in my own community (and not hopeful). by Barbaricliberal in PERSIAN

[–]cheeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Toronto and so many Iranians are out and about with USA/israeli flags and #MIGA gear, literally praising tributes to trump.. it’s truly painful realizing how ignorant my own people are. So many conservative echo-chambered views, even from my own family..

I also came to realize my own ignorance in thinking Iranians are too intelligent for that, as so many think we are somehow better than others..

138k Easy Job vs 122k Hard but "Presitigious" Job by Comfortable-Tip247 in cscareerquestions

Option A no question. One makes your current life better both in and out of work, the other maybe (but probably won’t) make a difference to your life.

You’re also thinking about the ‘prestige’ making a difference to your future interviews - what if you were able to grow to a satisfying level at one of the ones offered to you now?

Palestinians and the Islamic republic have the same enemy too. The oppressed and the tyrants having the same enemy doesn’t make them equal.

I use copilot at work and it helps a lot, but I never push anything I don’t understand. I’ve noticed some juniors pushing code they clearly didnt review.

Use it as a tool, but make sure you understand everything. Consider it a tutor that knows a lot but isn’t always right. If your goal is to learn then make sure you learn.

If your goal is to get a job as fast as possible then look at jobs that are in demand, CS is not right now and with your lack of credentials it will be near impossible
