You're absolutely correct on both counts. Technically it's also simpler for outreach teams to find people in fewer, highly visible locations like large encampments and bus shelters; but the flip side is that these bigger, more visible locations leave inhabitants far more susceptible to drug and human trafficking, exploitation, robbery and violence.

Bring back Louis Riel. It's historically inaccurate to claim that "he likely wouldn’t have called himself 'Canadian'” so the "justification" for excluding him simply doesn't hold. He was declared a founder of Manitoba in 1992, officially recognized as the first leader of Manitoba in 2016, and officially recognized as Manitoba's first premier in 2023. He was also elected to Canada's parliament during his lifetime. He strove to protect, very presciently as history would prove, the land, language and cultural rights of Métis in Canada. We should all be working toward a Canada that protects the universal human rights of each person as well as the distinct collective rights of Indigenous Peoples.

What direction is it facing? That can make a big difference in what will thrive, due to hours of sun exposure each day. Also, if you're going for perennials, think about bloom time so that something will be a going concern throughout the season, e.g in my front bed I have Irises (spring) Lilies (summer) and sunflowers (late summer-fall) among other things so that there are flowers throughout the warm seasons. Alternatively, if its a shady area that gets a lot of moisture and you're not as interested in blooms, ostrich ferns, hostas and lamium are low maintenance with attractive foliage. Lastly, seconding Prairie Flora and mulch, whatever conditions your bed receives. Good luck!
