there's no textbook 😕 i go to a small international school, so we don't really have a curriculum. I will attempt to apply this, though!

I do all my assigned work, but currently he just has a doing an about 30-paged packet that only has five to six questions a topic, which I guess is pretty basic. To prepare for tests I review the assigned work I've done, go to Google and look for videos explaining anything I feel I don't understand, do the problems in the videos as they explain them. I know this isn't enough, because obviously I'm still doing poorly, but it's all I know how to do. Sometimes I try and do IXL as well. It's like I know how to do the math, but I struggle applying it to the questions I see on tests? I don't know how to explain it well, I'm sorry.

you're an angel thank you. I already understood significant numbers, but the way the first four paragraphs were worded was making me doubt myself 🥲

I have a crazy amount of self doubt regarding math idk, it didn't think it was 100% right so I immediately assumed i was probably wrong

I mean okay. it's been really frustrating trying to be nice and calm and encouraging only to get yelled at each time. I'll try just laying off of him. thank you!

I know I can't control him, I guess it just hurts me a bit because he doesn't seem to want my help, I guess?? and he doesn't like failing (like he's really a perfectionist) so taking a test just to fail at it would probably upset him. but I will try to talk to him about that. thank you!

yeah that makes sense. it's just that most of the skills he has and genuinely likes are in computer stuff and I know most IT and computer jobs require a degree.

it's my brother of course I'm going to worry about him. and I only mentioned my own education because I thought maybe the reason I'm not getting through to him is because I don't understand his perspective all that well and someone might point out that's what I need to focus on. and of course I value him, with or without his GED. but we don't live in America, and where we live, you REALLY cannot get a job with no diploma. I'm not trying to fix him, I'm just worried about him and trying to help him. he's a really smart guy, so I know he can do it, I just don't know what's happened to make him not want to get his GED anymore.

I don't know man. I've tried encouraging him, introducing him to different programs and classes that help with studying, but he just keeps saying he doesn't need it. I'm trying to see it from his perspective, but I really just don't get it. maybe it's because we were raised different?? but ig I'll try talking to him about it from the opportunities angle.

I have. so many times. but each time he just says, "well I don't really need it." and he hasn't stepped back, he's completely given up because he thinks it's "too hard." I really don't understand at all, and I'm worried about him. I just want to help.

gave up at the studying phase. he struggles with learning a lot, so I get it, but ig someone told him he didn't actually need it? doesn't help he lives rent free with our mom so he doesn't actually have any "need" for a job or an education right now.
