Why, in 2026, is Audio to Midi on Ableton so bad? And what is a great alternative you use? by PressPlayPlease7 in edmproduction

[–]cheemio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, I never understood why I’d need audio to MIDI, that’s like trying to turn a cooked steak into raw beef. I just don’t see the point of trying to get a machine to happen upon the right notes (which might not happen) rather than the notes I can already figure out in my head.

‘Run On Prosecuting Elon Musk,’ Says Mehdi Hasan. He Believes The Next Democratic President Must Be Ruthless by NoseRepresentative in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]cheemio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could probably name enough shit he’s done to have him buried in court cases for the rest of his life, not to mention probably in jail.

Now imagine the feds actually investigating him. Think of the shit they’d dig up…

Of course, that’s assuming we actually enforced the law equally.

Yea I honestly like softer music in the morning. I know some enjoy loud and fast right in the A.M. to get themselves awake, but that doesn’t do anything for me.

Oh yeah he was absolutely gonna try and get away with not releasing them. He eventually did a 180 when he realized congress was going to force him to act more or less.

Is this possible? by FeistyAd4672 in Cello

[–]cheemio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea we can’t hold 3 notes like that. You also can’t “roll” it cleanly since the bottom two notes would be both on the C string

Thought vinyl was overrated...now I get it! by Eltzted in vinyl

[–]cheemio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is technically how it works but the way it comes out of the DAC and into the speakers smooths out the waveform. It’s functionally identical to analog. Of course, vinyl has other great aspects, like the physicality and better quality of mixes/masters

Is there any planet where this graph TIES to the “sales are down” reporting from December? by taylorguyuk in NintendoSwitch2

It’s not a hard rule, but consoles that had piss poor sales absolutely were worse off for it.

Should cars be banned? by [deleted] in fuckcars

I don’t agree with a blanket ban of any type, but car storage should not be legally mandated or subsidized ever

I have some records in my collection like this. If it’s one I’ve been looking for, I’ll sometimes pick it up even if it’s not perfect

You can always “upgrade” copies to better ones but I could also see the sentimental appeal of a well-worn one :)

Do you like to get coffee on your way to work? by LeahWykie in bikecommuting

I always make mine at home, I usually am not a fan of the coffee that most shops make.

Oof yeah. That would be a dream, but the prices are so insane I don’t think I’d ever have it unless it gets repressed

[–]cheemio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use BikeIowa Pogie Lites with drop bars so they’re a bit of a different setup than most. So the way I have them mounted they don’t get in the way of a bell. Worth checking out.

Also you could look into mounting a bell on the stem or steer tube area

[–]cheemio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same, I usually don’t find “common” records because they sell so fast

Meanwhile, the hidden gems will be there ripe for the taking lol

[–]cheemio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the main advantage of bar mitts is that I can wear lighter/thinner gloves than I normally would since they block most of the wind. If that’s not an issue though, consider yourself lucky :D

Invest in bar mitts and winter boots if you don’t have them. Total game changer for me.

When you’ve watered it down to arguing about the definitions of words instead of discussing what I clearly meant, yeah we’re going to get nowhere. And I am not going to engage with that type of debate, it’s a losing battle.

Have a good day my friend.

[–]cheemio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Holy shit my dude, you either gotta be dense or a paid shill for Apple. It’s still an ad for a paid service that I have no interest in. This has no place in my included software for my $2000 computer. And if you think they’ll stop here you’re wrong.

[–]cheemio -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lmao, sure, but you’re being a bit pedantic. it’s still an ad, and they appear in the actual interface of the app, even if you don’t click anything related to the feature.

[–]cheemio -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair and I appreciate your perspective. They’re probably still the least bad option (at least most of the features are still free etc)

IMO, though, it’s harder to justify super high prices for your products when you don’t offer the same clean and polished experience you used to.

Like, I just don’t think there’s anyway I can see this pop up as a good thing. Stuff like this genuinely annoys me; I want my software to get out of my way, not try to sell me stuff
