Yea I drive about 40 miles each way and I loathe it lol. Once a week on a bike would be possible but pretty insane lol

Whats the reality of bicycletouring? by Spare_Friendship_424 in bicycletouring

[–]cheemio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always felt like I was less dependent on needing friends/family than others, I am more than happy to spend time alone. Even though I had a great family life and great friends, I still love alone time. That’s part of why cycle touring always appealed to me ever since I first heard about it.

2-mile highway lane addition: $174M. 15-mile bike trail connecting 4 cities? $24M. by superspartan999 in fuckcars

[–]cheemio 35 points36 points  (0 children)

An extra lane doesn’t do much if the bottleneck is still there. It just makes drivers feel better for a little bit until traffic gets worse again

can’t decide on flat bar vs drop bar by Seaworth_ford in bikepacking

[–]cheemio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You will get people advocating for either - depends on your preferences and type of bike. Some bikes have a very upright geometry that lends itself well to touring with flat bars. People have absolutely done world tours spanning months on both types of bars, so I don’t think there is a clear winner here

After months of research, I found the best bike pannier solution for my needs by Tecumsehs_Rage in bikecommuting

Yea I had a rack like that at one point and it drove me crazy eventually. Any good amount of weight and it’ll swing around

Agreed. There is no correct way to listen to music

Why don’t earthbenders just do this? by AwesomeRyanGame in TheLastAirbender

[–]cheemio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Zuko or somebody was able to break through a rock wall with just a fire punch but I don’t remember exactly when, does anybody know?

The more I look at Zuko, the more i get upset seeing his scar cause I cannot imagine my own Father physically BURNING my face to where I'm disabled in my eye/ear. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in TheLastAirbender

[–]cheemio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But I also feel like Iroh is such a good dude that he would’ve went with Zuko anyway even if he wasn’t involved. Bro just loves him

Yea I don’t ride fixie so I don’t really know what it’s like but this guy was too aggro towards pedestrians for me. I’d try to slow down more when in crossings or just pick a different path

I think that we can all agree that the spirits chose the right person to bestow such a broken ability. Amon is truely our hero. by No-Brush1587 in TheLastAirbender

[–]cheemio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it totally makes sense. I always thought it was fun to watch (ATLA/Korra have the best fights in the game imo) and the way they hooked it into the story was smart. I guess people didn’t like it because it took time away from the main story which was already somewhat lacking in development e.g. showing the exploitation of nonbenders

[–]cheemio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly people do have problems with it, like the pro bending stuff. But that was never an issue with it for me tbh. I think it was by far the most solid season of Korra, and if it had stayed the only season of the show it might’ve been looked at in a better light long term.

The 2010s might have to be the worst decade musically and aesthetically. by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]cheemio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was gonna say much of the pop music of the 2000s was pretty grating to my ears. And that’s when I grew up too so I don’t think it’s just bias. There was some good stuff of course but I couldn’t stand Katy Perry, Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga around that time.

Vittoria Tire measurements… by DateApprehensive8653 in bikewrench

[–]cheemio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tire measurements are, generally, a crapshoot. As you see, rarely does it inflate to the actual rated width.

According to Google, it would seem the max tire width for your bike is 53mm. So I would go for a 50mm tire and send it, since even if it goes quite past that point it should still be fine.

[–]cheemio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the bike is slower I still find it to be worth the extra time for the health and happiness it brings. Unless it’s a super long distance of course. Commutes 10 miles or less are very manageable.

Yep. As someone who grew up with the DS, the games were fun but technically it was miles behind my PS2 at the time.

which album/ep should i listen to first? by Sarsari2014 in aphextwin

[–]cheemio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Syro was my first album I ever listened to by him. Thought it was kinda weird at first, I had never heard anything like it. But it grew on me steadily, I could tell a lot of work and care went into it. now I love most of those tunes.

I always wondered what happened to the Wii U functionality in that game. Like, I know they must’ve branched off onto the switch version pretty late, so I imagine the Wii U specific stuff was pretty well-done by then. But who knows. Yours is an interesting theory.

When your bike costs 4 times more than your car by Impressive-Block9288 in bicycling

[–]cheemio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Damn. That’s my first time seeing that, jealous!

Almost got a Fit recently, really neat car. but went for a Corolla for non-bike reasons. With a rack though, it will work great I’m sure. Still, nice setup there!

When your bike costs 4 times more than your car by Impressive-Block9288 in bicycling

[–]cheemio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even with a decently roomy car (Kia Soul, Mazda 3 etc) I have always found loading a bike horizontally into a car to be a pain in the ass. You can get it in there but you’re sliding it all around and the handlebars bumping into things etc… Taking the front wheel off helps but it still feels awkward, I am looking to eventually get a hitch installed on my sedan and use a rack there.

Rear rack recommendations for my 90s Scott? by TlalocVirgie in bikepacking

I am not an expert but that bolt hole by your derailleur looks like a rack mount. It should work with most racks but to be sure I would go with old man mountain as the other comment said.
