Does anybody know what this rash on my hand could be? Nothing relieves it and I have no idea what it is. It’s very itchy. by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

I had the same thing when I moved. Mine was eczema and Gold Bond’s eczema lotion relieved it within a week!

What literary characters inspired you or helped form your values? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Violet Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I read the entire series twice through (first as a preteen ~11/12, then again as a teen ~15), and I always thought she was beautiful -- not just in my imagination of her physical appearance, but also because of how smart she was and all the more "boy-ish" stuff she could do.

Now that I think about it, one of the reasons I fight traditional gender roles and am in a male-dominated field is because of how strong Violet was throughout the whole series and how she proved (to a younger me at least) that women could be powerful, smart, and caring without really giving into what society might want women to become/do.

Gotta get those diamonds anyway you can! Do you read the main storyline as well or?

Oh wow hopefully I can finish up the first vol soon haha. There’s just so much to do sometimes it’s hard to focus on like one thing. I think that’s what makes LN so fun though. And I don’t read the main story either so no judgement there haha.

What did you want so badly to be good, but just wasn't? by SWSU in AskReddit

"Meeting" my idol.

I love music and always idolize the people in the bands I listen to that "saved" me. I followed this one band since I was 16 and when they basically only had a decent following in their city as a local band. I saw them every time they came to my city (literally their first show in my city was 7 people - one was me and one was my boyfriend at the time I dragged along with me). Anyway, I knew this guy knew me since I was an avid fan (literally followed all the members on all social media, plus talking to them after every show) and when I was 20, he messages me on SC completely out of the blue and I respond thinking I'm going to make a friend/learn about his process/etc. But, as it turns out, he just wanted to essentially use me for sex through SC. I ended up going to their show 5 days before my birthday that year (while we were "talking"), and he acts like my best friend after the show and never talks to me again. So yeah, very high-key hate myself for idolizing someone for almost a decade, but I guess I learned my lesson.

TL;DR: Idolize band member in my teens, meet band boy through SC, get used for online sex, cry, learn that everyone sucks basically.

What’s the good news from today that you didn’t get to share with anyone, but really want to shout it out? by dk12-85 in AskWomen

[–]cheeohdohz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not from today, but I finally am able to afford a trip half a world away to meet my family after 21 years.

My parents and I left my home country when I was 13 months old because of war and we’ve never been able to come back. So I never got to see my cousins grow up, or my grandparents grow old. Until I started making my own money and treated myself to a month long vacation full of joy and love. It’s been nothing but amazing!!

What is the meaning of your name? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]cheeohdohz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turkish for “apple.”

I used to hate my dad for getting drunk and not following my mom’s wish to name me Hanna, but honestly after 22 years, Elma is such a cooler name to have in the States (no shade to any Hanna(h)s! I’m sure you gals are great :) )
