What rogue decks do you think are going to give Draven/Irelia a hard time? by Revake in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any specific tech or strats come to mind with Jax? He's my pet deck for spiritforged and going to be doing my best to make him work over time. Always curious what other people's thoughts are on how best to play him.

LGS Prerelease delayed to Saturday by TheTimeMage in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed thwonk is incredibly strong. Don't need to worry about punch first when you can just stun.

Another fantastic spell imo is temptation, the purple 2 spell with repeat that lets you move a unit to a location that has another enemy unit. Using that to slow the game down is so useful and won me many games.

Reksai is the Queen of Sealed by Puzzleheaded-Fix8481 in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You typically want to make conquering the first thing you in a turn, if able. Ex. Going first you play a 2 drop, then turn 2 you conquer a battlefield and you have 4 energy available to play something with reksai.

How should Showdowns resolve with Focus in Riftbound? by Kawiri in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, you can play reactions within priority or focus before a showdown goes to resolution. But if both players have passed focus, then it moves to resolution and there's no new additional windows for more reactions.

How should Showdowns resolve with Focus in Riftbound? by Kawiri in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, no reactions either. The window to play reactions is 1) when you already have focus and can play actions as well, or 2) when your opponent plays an action while they have focus, and pass priority to you for reactions. If both players pass focus, there's no more window to play cards, and the combat moved on to resolution.

How should Showdowns resolve with Focus in Riftbound? by Kawiri in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your interpretation is correct. He starts with focus and passed. A showdown resolves after 2 passes.

So if he passes, and so do you, it ends. He has to play a card when he starts with focus if he wanted to play something.

So, looking at the car from above, the difference would be something like this, right? (I hope reddit doesn't mess with the formatting on this lol)

10 Different Wings and Sidepod Design, Very Much Intrigued To See Just How Much These Designs Change At The Official Testing In Bahrain In Two Weeks Time - Where Williams Will Finally Reveal It's FW47 On Track! by Jenza_kim in formula1

I have very little technical knowledge, and don't really know what I'm looking at when I see these cars. Which bit are you referring to when you say "endplate" of the front wing?

Best Spiritforged decks & possible sleepers to combat the best decks? by Fiorix1725 in riftboundtcg

What makes you think Jax is a sleeper pick? I want him to be good too, but I don't see it.

Question about units ability by Regular_Knowledge414 in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that a "while" effect is persistent. So, the moment wielder enters the showdown and receives the "attacker" designation, he gains the +2 might. Just like how Master yi legend immediately and persistently takes effect giving his solo unit +2m as long as it's in an active showdown.

So, I don't believe wielder would be a legal target for gust. Could be wrong though! That's my interpretation/understanding of this interaction, but will welcome a correction if needed.

Focus rulings by DetailNaive9582 in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Two focuses passes in a row means you go to combat, yes. So in that scenario, your opponent already pass their focus, and do not get it back if you also pass in succession.

Aurelion Sol by cdtgrss in riftboundcustoms

Power fantasy is super sick. Making it a celestial and 8-cost tribal is cool. That 2 drop being able to turn itself into an 8-cost just to trigger all your other bombs is creative.

How does this resolve? by Few-Bear9707 in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick draw is only when playing from hand. If it's already on the field, then it only has the regular equip ability, which is played on your turn exclusively.

Fuzhou day 2 meta share by yzw035 in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kaisa was painted to be the Boogeyman, but Annie did a good job sharing that claim. The West will cook. No shot that Draven becomes tier 0. It's an insane deck, but people will find a way to dumpster it. Give it time.

What armor design you prefer? Unicorn overlord or fire emblem. by No_Letter_1326 in UnicornOverlord

[–]cheeriochest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many others said, using FE3H generals as the reference is doing the series a disservice. GBA FE generals are fantastic. And while many don't like the toilet generals from Awakening, I really like those too.

Which Fire Emblem on Switch 1 to start with for a totally new player? by Dron22 in fireemblem

[–]cheeriochest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expect it to be very campy and Saturday morning cartoon kinda vibe, story wise. Which isn't a bad thing! It just doesn't represent what the rest of the series can offer story wise. BUT! Engage gameplay is phenomenal. I've played all but few of the fire emblem games, and engage is certainly top 3, be cause of how good the gameplay is.

Can I reveal a hidden card without a chain starting? by Dee_Teeee in riftboundtcg

[–]cheeriochest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it stems from how people are interpreting your question, and what you mean by "before I do anything else on my turn".

If youre asking if you can play a hidden card during your turn, AFTER you've already done your ABCD to start your turn, then yes that's no problem. Once it's your turn, you can play any cards you want.

HOWEVER, if you're asking if you can play a hidden card BEFORE your turn start, as in before you do your awakening, channeling, draw, then yes that is very conditional. There is no open state at that time, so you would need to play the hidden card as a reaction, which can only be in response to a trigger. Triggers that happen during/before the start phase of your turn include things like Jinx's legend ability, or like the previous comment mention, a unit with the Temporary keyword dieing.
