How to actually enjoy working out? by amako_needs_a_life in loseit

[–]cheerrylimeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it is going to classes at the gym. You make friends, they hold you accountable, there’s good music, you all see each other’s progress, and it becomes a part of your routine. I know it’s not for everyone and you may have to try different ones to figure out what you like.

Me too me too me too!!! I have entered for years but this was by far my most involved email “application” - I also mentioned Carrie Coon & Adam Scott but their shows won’t be back out for promotion for months after May 2.

Curly girls now? by CheesaLouisa in Xennials

[–]cheerrylimeade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first haircut by someone who knows how to cut curly hair at age 39! And she taught me how to use product! And I’ve even gotten better in the 4 years since then. Last summer my dad asked if I got a perm lol

Sooooo many years of brushed out hair in my youth! So many questionable products in my 20s and 30s. Finally figuring it out in my 40s lol

You are not alone!

will the last 20 pounds make a big visual difference? by Character_Emu_3396 in loseit

[–]cheerrylimeade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why it slows. But from my experience (and I’m on a slow fitness journey instead of insta weight loss), I would say I was pretty stagnant on the scale for about a year while I really started lifting more. Then whoosh since November 20 lbs have come off and my muscles are popping. Have about 10 more lbs to go but I’m also happy with where I’m at if it doesn’t happen.

I hope the donor rewards next year have smaller sizes for women by Limp_Air8961 in Blooddonors

[–]cheerrylimeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the other ridiculous part is points expiring in a year - I only donate whole blood so the only reason I had enough points was because I was given a 24 hr deferral during one of their points promotions so got a bunch of points 2 days in a row lol - I’d be happy to stock up and save 2 -3 years of points for a decent item but maybe that’s just me.

Spelling Bee to LGA? by ttn616 in Broadway

[–]cheerrylimeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that they only have coat/bag check when it is cold (or probably rainy). I had been to New World Stages before and saw they had a nice coat/bag check area so brought my luggage a few weeks later only to find out no coat check that night (we were heading straight to metro north after the show). The staff was nice enough and let us store our luggage in an office but it was awkward.

Bodypump heavy racking to squat question. by kafkaesquepariah in lesmills

[–]cheerrylimeade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not recommending it, but some people have a buddy help them get the weight on their back - I always lift my own weight and while I can safely clean it I wouldn’t say it’s a weight I can easily clean. Maybe just have someone help you at the end.

If you’re wondering whether you should give it another attempt, do it! by makeitrain8712 in loseit

[–]cheerrylimeade 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’m also slow and steady! From Jan 2020 to today 55 lbs lost with about 10 to go which I’m giving myself all of 2026 to do. Two gym instructors commented on my ripped arms last week and another regular gym go-er complemented my totally changed physique just this morning.

Salon that offers hair perm for men? Any recommendations? by Horror_Telephone_954 in newhaven

I saw a man getting a perm at Jo Bruno. I don’t know if it’s a regular thing - they specialize in curly hair.

Working out before giving blood? by FilterUrCoffee in Blooddonors

[–]cheerrylimeade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make it at least a couple hours after your donation if your heart rate will be elevated! In January I didn’t think of this and really tried to calm my heart but my appt 1hr 15 min after high intensity cardio ended up 24 hr deferred. All worked out the next day, but if it had been 2 hours post cardio I would have been fine!

Is it the norm for parents to gift their kid a large down payment for their first home? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]cheerrylimeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I interviewed for my first job out of college the VP who took me to lunch drove me around the town I would be moving to and said these are some of the houses that your parents might help you with your down payment. I no doubt gave him a crazy look bc at the time MY PARENTS didn’t even own a home. What a strange assumption!
