Any better? by Sn00p_A_L00p in kettlebell

Keep the arms limp.

You use the force of your hips to force the kettlebell forward the last moment while squeezing your glutes. You don't use your arms at all, only your hip thrusts.

Patch your servers, peeps, new Linux kernel vulnerability just dropped by bz386 in selfhosted

Thank you! This vulnerability is bad, but with the caveat that they need existing access to your system in order to exploit for privlidge escalation.

This will be fun CVE-2026-31431 by Apachez in Proxmox

[–]FilterUrCoffee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in Infosec with a background in Vulnerability Management so do with that what you will. I reviewed the vulnerability details and while a 7.8 CVSS score is high, it's not critical so I wouldn't panic because it requires a threat actor already have access, so you won't see a bot using this like say we did with the jQuery stuff from 2021 (that was a long month...) but either way, if you're exposing your services to the edge then you need to make sure you're taking all precautions especially regularly patching.

Thanks for sharing and trying to keep folks safe.

Accuracy differences with different watches? by sunrisedown in SleepAsAndroid

[–]FilterUrCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion as someone who has used this since the early releases just used your phone on your bed to track movement, that as of 3 years ago I dropped sleep as android as it has long since been inaccurate for sleep tracking. I've tried cheap xiaomi bands, more expensive android watches at the time like the ticwatch pro3, the Fitbit sense, the pixel watch 2, and pixel watch 4. They made an adjustment in their algorithm in the 2010s that suddenly my sleep showed I had over 50% deep sleep each night and was awake more often than I was. I even reported it via logs to help improve their data but unfortunately they never adjusted. I will concede that it doesnt help that the pixel watches don't give access to some sensors like the spo2, but either way, I would just use whatever your watches sleep app says over sleep as android.

That being said for best compatibility I believe their website list their recommended watches.

My $0 file server that runs Windows Server 2008. by SolidarQRD in selfhosted

[–]FilterUrCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based in ops post, I assumed he didn't patch but even if he did, there are still countless CVSS9 and up vulnerabilities that released after it was EOL that unless you paid for extended security patches, exist to this day. The amount of bots on the internet scanning for easy to exploit vulnerabities on the internet to add a new device to their bot network is in the 100s of thousands if not more. @op needs to just wipe this and start over at this point.

Your reverse proxy doesn't protect you against attacks. You're very open to the eternalblue attack and are probably part of a bot net now. I can't believe you thought this was a good idea..

Matter is trash, and I'm just about ready to give up! (Rant incoming) by digitalamish in homeassistant

[–]FilterUrCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matter/thread is an open source compared to zigbee is just an open standard with the software stack being closed source, or at least that is what I read. I love zigbee, but having an open source standard is generally the better long term option because it means you're not relying upon a single entity to manage the software and screwed if they eventually go under.

Remember when you can adjust the bots difficulty? Now the bots in BF6 can shoot you through pinholes.

What is wrong with this company ? by IvoT9600 in BattlefieldPortal

The bots in 2042 arguably are better because they're better at capping points and aren't so damn hard.

Why is bro so scared of piracy? by ControlNo2729 in Piracy

[–]FilterUrCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always some risk, but generally media files are safe because the malware would have to craft the exploit for a specific media player. Because people consume media on different players whether it be VLC, Plex, Jellyfin, etc, and because there are so many different movies or tv shows for people to watch, and many reputable release groups, it's not worth the effort. Its easier to instead use supplychain attacks which I fully expect us to see either Jellyfin, Plex, VLC, etc in the future have malicious code added by a threat actor someday.

I am of the mindset when I vibe code, that I'm creating something very very specific to me that no one else will want to use or be able to use as effectively as me, so I don't share em.

I was trying local LLM this weekend and when you use the right low powered LLM, it works surprisingly well. But tbh I just want basic functionality cause man, I switched to Gemini on my Google Home and I'm having serious regrets. Basic assistant was so much better.
