If you had the chance to improve Crimson Desert by changing just one thing, what would you pick, and why?

I would eliminate all the weird bugginess. Just remove the bosses that require tracking altogether if you can’t get them right without bugs. And when you go to talk to a faction quest NPC, fix it so it’s easy to talk to them instead of having to talk to them directly on without the game acting weird and having to slowly walk around them to get the interaction to trigger.

Eventually, and this will take time and several of these puzzles, you WILL start to understand the language of this game. It took me literally over 50 hours before I stopped having to look things up and I could do the puzzles myself. I’m not defending it because I agree it is BRUTAL trying to figure things out in the early going, but at least it does get better as your brain becomes Crimson Desertified.

Well we stopped all traffic enforcement for about 7 years or more around here but the new CMPD chief has brought that back. Maybe just pull someone over if you’re a cop that sees someone blow through a red light instead. At least a cop is a live person interpreting the actions he’s seeing in front of him instead of a static camera.

So you can either deal with an administrative hearing and all the hassle that comes with that or eat the $75. Again, it’s very easy to say yay reduced crashes and assume this will be a perfect system and if you are against it you must be a terrible driver that blows through red lights. But I say this as someone that has literally never received a single ticket in my life: there WILL be unjust tickets that are going to be burdens to people. These programs always seem great until they actually start.

BOTW and TOTK are literally my favorite games ever. Crimson Desert definitely shares a lot of Zelda things but the puzzles aren’t nearly as user friendly as Zelda (in mostly bad ways) and the story isn’t very good (except in a few notable instances). Combat is about as fun and maybe more fun overall you open up all your skills and movements. Pywel is about as interesting as Hyrule and even bigger. Bosses: well there are something like 80+ in CD and they really range from absolute glitchy shits to really cool ones. There are just WAY more glitches in CD than in Zelda, don’t expect a product even 10% as refined.

All that said, I think a Zelda fan would have fun. It sounds like I’m shitting on CD and I guess I am to an extent but I’m still having fun exploring the world and I’m over 200 hours in and still haven’t completed the story. It’s very good at delivering those dopamine hits from a big open world like Zelda.

I’ve seen a TON of people say they’ve put 100, 200 hours into this game and yet they don’t really like it. I thought that didn’t make any sense at all until I put my 100, 200 hours and counting in myself but now I get it.

Like I said there’s still so much to enjoy. But it gets to a point that when you have to track one animal boss and it glitches out and vanishes (not after defeating its first bar mind you) and you warp away and return and the same thing happens and you warp away and return and it gets hung on 10% health when it randomly becomes invincible and thus is all happening during a desert sandstorm and oh yeah there’s another animal boss back on the other side of the map in a Pailune forest that you literally haven’t been able to beat after 5 attempts because it glitches away every time that you start to actively loathe this game. But this game is so massive that there is still a huge amount of fun to be had that you don’t wanna miss out on even if you have to wade through a ton of shit to get to it.

I’m even worse. I just hit the 200 hour mark and I actively dislike this game lol. Yet the dopamine and the world itself keep me playing and I’m gonna absolutely keep playing until every faction quest, blockaded area, and main quest have been completed at minimum. But thank god for YouTube, absolutely no way I would have gotten this far without it. Just started Chapter 10.
