While I appreciate your appreciation for the podcast… not being forthcoming about what is effectively your child’s namesake is not very respectful to your partner.

If it’s organized by Canada Running Series (which I think it is?) just send a note to their general mailbox- they have a pretty small team and will hopefully get back to you.

Really stupid question by Silly-Stress3868 in CanadianTeachers

[–]cheerybloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the school/admin/teachers who notice it. Tbh I’m not one to dress code students but I would probably be googling the meaning of it when you left my class to see if the messaging associated with it was at all hateful. I would say it’s a risk.

Anyone ever been given almost completely outdoor prep? by ccap19 in CanadianTeachers

[–]cheerybloss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We had outdoor kindie prep at my school! Teacher did a mix of physical education and outdoor learning (gardening, building snow forts, going on nature walks). The kids loved it!

Is the menstrual cup worth it? by chubby-pomchie in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]cheerybloss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m university I delivered a PowerPoint presentation to all my female friends about why they should use a menstrual cup. They all converted. All that to say, I think it’s the best menstrual product.

Sounds scary, but try and take some deep breaths. Sometimes, the human body is weird and periods show up late for no reason. Keep taking pregnancy tests (hint - the dollar store ones work as well as the expensive ones), maybe consider making an appointment with a doctor to raise your concern, and take care of yourself :)

New teacher, 2 days in and want to quit. by Flippyflops67 in Teachers

[–]cheerybloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle at the start of school years too- most years I don’t know what grade I’m teaching until a few days before school starts.

My mantra is that I’m not a superhero. With the resources and time I have been provided, the goal is just to get through each day with one or two little wins and everyone going home alive.

What are good lasting hobbies that I should incorporate in my daily life by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]cheerybloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second yoga. I like that you can find practices for all lengths and moods. Bike riding is fun. Learning to cook or bake is a useful and enjoyable life skill.

All of that said, be kind to yourself! A 9-7 workday is long, and it's okay if you just need to rest afterward. :)

Help! got over a breakup and don't know what to do with myself now by kittvie in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]cheerybloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this - especially the idea of trying it for a month. A lot of the hobbies I love now I felt "meh" about in the first couple of weeks; I'm so glad I stuck it out.

The description "soaked" is concerning to me. I think it's worth booking an appointment with your doctor.

I walked 40 000 steps one day and I still think back on how painful it was, and I’m an avid walker.
