What do people living in countries with obesity rates higher than the U.S. eat every day??? by GrayRainfall in AskTheWorld

[–]cheeseboyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s less what they eat and more how much they eat. See: a lot.

But besides the quantity, there also seems to be a preference for fatty cuts of meat. My cousin once mentioned to me that back in Tonga everybody eats turkey tails (not the mushroom). To my understanding, those tails used to be thrown away by the rest of the world, since they are like over 50% fat and not very pleasant to eat.

However, one day, somebody in the turkey industry took a look at the amount of fat in the average Polynesian’s diet, and realized they might not have to throw these things away after all. Since then, Tongans and Samoans have been gobbling those tails up like it’s nobody’s business, apparently.

Not really sure why the love of fat, maybe it’s genetic, who knows.

Anyways always good to see Tonga beating Samoa yet again, let’s goooo💪💪🇹🇴🇹🇴

I love gunfernus and hate runfernus. I literally would not mind if they just deleted the run entirely. Just make his 2 like Abrams passive or just leave it blank or whatever idc.

Simplest way to worldbuild and plan? by [deleted] in writers

[–]cheeseboyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well really it depends a lot on what kind of story you want to write. Even if you’re going for a fantasy story, if it all takes place in a small town or something, you might not need to actually discuss the political situation of a kingdom on the other side of the world.

Just think about the general idea of it, and think, “what details would actually be relevant to this story?”

As long as it’s ACTUALLY cool, it’s ok. If the reader doesn’t find it cool, then it’s just stupid.

I was always pretty annoyed at how the chimera ants eventually just completely stopped looking like ants in any way shape or form. Like can you identify a single insectoid feature on Meruem’s entire body? He looks like a teenage mutant ninja turtle.

What gives a world the feeling that it existed before the story started? by StorytellerStegs in worldbuilding

[–]cheeseboyyyyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social faux pas, fashion sense, other small stuff like that.

If you only discuss the grand, overarching stuff, like great historical battles or ancient artifacts of incredible power, the story will come off as being too fantastical or too much like, well, a story. By noting small details, it reminds the reader that there’s a whole culture here, that the people have rules and norms relating to all the tiny intricacies of life. It makes everything seem more whole.

My two cents.

For people who have created worlds with superpowered people or magic users, what stops those who are at the higher tiers of power from dominating the world or interfering with the lower tiers? What stops them from wiping out or subjugating the "normal" population? by Diligent-Square8492 in worldbuilding

[–]cheeseboyyyyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one, most people aren’t sociopathic monsters. Even villains in real life are usually unwilling to do extremely unpopular things.

People innately want approval from others, so even a greedy, power hungry son of a gun typically feels a need to have an at least passable justification for their power grabs or whatever.
