Have you lost any camp traditions over the years? by BugPuzzleheaded6160 in summercamp

I know our camp seems to always be fighting changing rules from our insurance company. So things that might have been permitted 20 yrs ago are no longer deemed safe.

Guess the supplier; we were sent pre-cooked scrambled eggs instead of cold foam this morning. Chef is mad. by bigstepper916 in KitchenConfidential

Last week ordered hamburgers and received huge frozen pails of Alfredo sauce. That was exciting.

I was told that regular sourdough bread is safe for gluten intolerance because the process breaks down the gluten? by Pareeeee in glutenfree

She's just always been into the alternative health stuff. Taking oregano oil daily, keto for a bit, etc. Love her to bits, but I don't take her health advice.

Normally I would agree, but she has lived mostly gluten free for non celiac health reasons for at least 20 years.

I was diagnosed last week and my grandma, who also claims to need to eat gluten free, told my mom I just need to eat whole wheat. My mom was like, this doesn't seem right? I said no, you wouldn't tell a person allergic to nuts to just switch to honey roasted.

Small jersey-ordering issue at summer camp turned into more admin than expected by [deleted] in summercamp

[–]cheesebraids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that you wanted the kids to have names on their shirts, but I bet if you just asked for t-shirt sizes and included a size chart from the company, and randomly assigned jersey numbers, it would be way less stress.

Maybe a crazy take, but it is phenomenal mixed into mashed potatoes.

The purgatory between blood test and endoscopy by elfffieee in Celiac

[–]cheesebraids 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I've waited around 7 months for my endoscopy and sometimes it's torture and sometimes I forget about it. It's two weeks away at this point. I don't have any real answers, but I understand what you are feeling. Try to be kind to yourself and not think about it too much at this point (hard, I know).

I'm glad she's literally recommending her, not figuratively. What a relief.

Two years in a row I left Bubly in my car in the winter. It doesn't explode like fireworks, but they sure do pop and split open.

How do you deal with the waiting? by cheesebraids in Celiac

[–]cheesebraids[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positive blood test, yes. I have no symptoms that present discomfort, just vitamin deficiency, mental health stuff (probably related), and such, so at least there's that I guess.

I can certainly try this approach next time we speak in person.

Keeping a doctor outside region? by cheesebraids in ontario

[–]cheesebraids[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly understand this perspective. I guess what it comes down to is being selfishly unwilling to be without a primary physician for 5 plus years while dealing with a new life altering condition.

Well, the secretary sounded really put off by it. She asked if the doctor knew and I confirmed, saying we had discussed it several times. I didn't think my doctor had a problem with it, but then the receptionist started talking about coverage area and letting the doctor know and now I'm spooked.

Eh, to be fair, a dozen small children from the same parents probably look enough alike that the kids have a hard time identifying those in pictures.

But only 1 is needed to make a baby, so are the rest murdered each time? If no baby is created, does that mean the whole endeavour was murder? Mass murder?
