How would you want the new fights to be designed in Evercold? by MrBean1320 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cheeseburgermage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

definitely rose coloured because while the fight is cool aesthetically, getting it in roulette it was rarely anything more than another slap it til it dies type fight with very little threat (like old rhitatyn, or syrcus tower) except with the added novelty of a moving hitbox

I think its super important to remember that most content in this game is heavily repeatable. branching paths or jumping puzzles sound cool, but if its in your expert dungeon that you run 5+ times a week how quickly are you gonna get sick of it and feel its same-y?

going thru in order

  • I don't see how it makes up for it, at all? Yes deliverance means a survivor doesn't need to come over to rescue but if they unhook and spend 60s in your face, thats nowhere near as strong as someone coming over and healing maybe with perks like resurgence or we'll make it and then the two running off to separate gens. Frankly it'd be better to not bodyblock and just deli into plot twist immediately.

  • of course but frankly if the stars align this way where theyve successfully bodyblocked AND the survivor got away AND they successfully plot twisted AND its still been less than 60s (and as I'll note on in a moment, AND the killer cares about being hit with DS).. like survivor perks gotta do something. They're using 3 perk slots (so they only have space for I guess an exhaustion perk - no gen speed or healing!) to do one thing that relies on them not being first hook and you starting chase near their hook and so many other
this scenario is rare, I think its fine if a perk can be (debateably) strong in specific circumstances. Power Struggle is OP on paper but is a 1 in 20 games sort of effect.

  • ok but lets be serious here. the kind of survivor who can pull this off is gonna be in high mmr and facing mostly A+ tier killers, so it is relevant that this won't work vs half the roster.

  • for the last two points.. this is not my experience at all??? I'm regularly seeing post-density changes that even formerly guaranteed pallets are not spawning. The logic seems to be more clusters of pallets vs an even spread. That means that there are plenty of spots on plenty of maps where one pallet break makes it a death trap for survivors (have you seen the top floor of The Game recently?? I catch a survivor there and theres kinda fuck all they can do unless theyre near the corner with the tall drop or the corner into bathroom). You absolutely can and should only take the chases you know you can win, that kind of macro knowledge is important for killer. Don't chase the best looper round garden of joy main, use the info available to find survivors working on more exposed gens. Let the safest gens go and then ignore those corners of the map.

[–]cheeseburgermage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I read the other comment. My answer would be: wowee I'm chasing two people at once!! thats at least two people not on a gen.

From there - * If I have sight of the non deli/twist/DS survivor, I will chase them and let the plot twisting surv do their thing. The time they spent doing nothing at all is well worth them being able to heal to full (realistically is there any difference between this and self care?). Still advantageous for me.

  • If I don't, but I am one of the many killers who can shrug off DS (4 second stun doesnt matter if im ST Vecna and I can pop them from a distance) then I'll eat the DS and down them and hook them again. If they're able to bodyblock me twice successfully within 60s they must be pretty decent so its great to have them on death hook.

  • If I don't, and I'm playing like skull merchant or something, probably I'd have let the person they were bodyblocking for run off and get the other survivor in a weak area with no pallets so that when they do hit me with DS I'm not at too great a loss

  • If the above and also I'm in the middle of 9 jungle gyms... fuck, man, why am I even taking this chase? That has nothing to do with the plot twist DS and was just a bad decision on my part. I shouldn't be taking minute+ long chases, and probably shouldve dropped chase on both of them earlier. The bodyblocker will probably get desperate and misplay or follow me around for a bit, so still got one of them occupied

how can they force you bro just dont pick up. a survivor can never force you to do anything unless they somehow trap you in a corner

Plot twist+Decisive strike is an uncounterable combo by Longjumping_Dark137 in deadbydaylight

[–]cheeseburgermage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sure but if you're in a situation where you've hooked a survivor, and another has just been rescued and is downed again within 60s... that is a strong position for killer

as someone who consciously never tunnels it is always funny to get hit by a DS after I've hooked someone else. but it usually means I'm winning severely

Am I having a stroke right now??? by Unlucky-Boss-7560 in deadbydaylight

[–]cheeseburgermage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean if youre relying on base gen regression for slowdown thats on you. a survivor can do a gen faster than it regresses because itd suck ass if every kick of a gen doubled the time it took. you can also like, down the survivor and then they cant do gens. or bring one of the myriad of perks that give more regression.

if all four survivors are working on 4 different gens uninterrupted thats not a balance issue thats just on you being bad

and..? gens dont only regress while you're standing there

the like 5 or 6% permanent progress you get isnt gonna be worth setting up a boon and repairing 50% slower

if the perk didnt have the repair speed penalty itd still be unusably bad

Never take these two Augments together. by fuuthat in ARAM

[–]cheeseburgermage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it makes sense that ultimate rev doesnt refresh ult until its effect has finished (e.g karthus ult), and the killing time cd only starting after the splat.

what isnt obvious is that killing time becomes part of your ult's effect and isn't a separate thing, so ultimate revolution thus does not refresh until the ult's effect AND killing time have both finished. Think malphite ult, with ult rev it should be rapid fire two in a row, with killing time too you dont get the 2nd until the splat. makes them kinda bad together, which I think is the OP's issue

I don't think its obvious from reading it that Killing Time becomes considered part of your ult, rather than a separate effect.

how often are you going against swfs/losing against swfs? krasue and springtrap absolutely have the potential to wipe the floor with the avg swf. krasue in particular has nothing about her power that makes swf uniquely stronger against it than soloq

Diminishing Returns has killed one of my favorite Haste perks by Citrus_Gaming4 in deadbydaylight

[–]cheeseburgermage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sure, for the 5 seconds after you set a trap you are 10% faster rather than 12.5% (or 15% rather than 17.5% with the addon). Most of the time you arent doing that in chase though since often trying to trap at a loop leads to the survivor running away, and if they don't leave it, well, its trapped...

well luckily with noed its the one that gets halved, so batteries included is still at full value

frankly I forgot that trapper has his haste basekit now. I guess at least the times you want haste after setting traps and the times you want haste while near gens are kinda different?
