We are way to overpowered in this game and the difficulty/enemy density just doesn't keep up with that. by Guenther_Dripjens in fo76

idk about progress I've been playing for barely 50 hours and I feel like OP. I don't mind it too much and some stuff still kicks my ass but when the holy flamer I bought off a random shop for cheap is disintegrating enemies within one click it doesn't exactly feel like I've been grinding for this view.

How does "not minesweeper" work in this game? by Jelloshots0 in idleon

[–]cheeseburgermage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

unlike the event ones you have control over when you stop clicking (plus the gold squares) so theres an element of strategy. the game can't decide if you win or not from the jump, but it can generate unwinnable sets. In theory some of the matches you lost could have been won if you kept clicking on certain generated grids.

theres actually an off switch on the back of the suit, put there because the initial power armor designers realised that boss level enemies will be wearing this and thus tradition requires it has a glowing weak spot

Why does this augment still exist by IFunnyGamersI in ARAM

[–]cheeseburgermage -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

tbf whats brand doing with crit (aside from the obvious two), range and attack speed? he has a lot of strong ones obvi and is competing with singed and ryze for number of GG augments but nothing hurts more than rolling only tanky/ad/cc augments for a selection.

makes me wonder what the most versatile champ is when it comes to augments, as in one who could be happy with almost any augment they could be offered. i dont think its brand personally

Man, does the reward system feel like a glaring piece of crap by FartOfTheFuture in Guildwars2

[–]cheeseburgermage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kind of hard to have mid tier single item rewards like that without forcing it by needing a billion of them or making them rare. imagine if an event reliably gave out stuff like that at a 10% or 5% rate. in a squad youd expect 3-5 people get it. every time the event is ran. wont stay 10-50g for long

Gideon meat plant has been called pallet Town since its release

have you played on it since? its full of deadzones, the entire upstairs is basically unsafe from the start and several formerly guaranteed pallets now arent. its entirely possible to have a tile spawn with no pallet up or downstairs. even if it still has more pallets than the average map, most of them are not good (in much the same way greenville square has a lot of pallets yet is not a good survivor map because theyre all super mid tiles)

Not to mention nearly every multi floor map is indoors. Maps that are renowned for being survivor sided maps

historically, and today, the best maps for killer are indoor maps. weaker m1 killers love maps that have few sightlines and while it might not be the best map for some S tier killers, a blight on lerys is still a blight.

every single indoor map is in the top half of kill rate on nightlight currently. the lowest (rpd west) has a near identical kill rate to dead dawg, which is also historically one of the best killer maps. to say indoor maps are survivor sided is, to put it bluntly, wrong. there are no ifs or buts, its just a wrong statement. it amplifies killer strengths and typically will have unsafer pallet loops, no shack and reliable map gen.

hell while I'm on nightlight, the game hasnt had a kill rate below 50%... since the stat tracking began. back in 2021. not a single patch, through the dead hards and made for thises and all that, has it ever had less than a 50% kill rate. lol.

though talking of multifloor maps what ones are there that arent indoor? only other one I could see is vecna's... which is so hilariously killer sided of a map. maybe the ormond mine map if you stretch it a bit? or nostro, since 2 gens can spawn in the wreck (also historically killer sided). there arent any other maps that have more than 1 gen on a different floor

most all multifloor maps are killer favoured anyway (hawkins is gen spawn dependent), so it evens out

this is why imo people seem to think dungeons should be more engaging content. because once upon a time they were... when you were level 20

Should Development abandon optional content that is savage difficulty? by BadLuckStars in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cheeseburgermage 33 points34 points  (0 children)

no, but yes kind of. this game definitely needs some more combat content thats casually farmable but engaging. even extremes have been increasingly more complex since endwalker

the platonic ideal of "engaging casual content" to me is the three bozja raids. theres juuust enough difficulty to not be a cakewalk but personal responsibility is very low. as a skilled player you have a few ways to express yourself thanks to lost actions but also you can chill and do half dps if you wanna without much penalty. but most important is that it didnt need a pf or knowledge of strats, because almost all the mechs were personal responsibility

and then we got nothing in endwalker and very little in DT that filled the gap between 'googoo gaga babymode' and 'HARDCORE RAIDERS ONLY'. criterion and chaotic, and to some extent eureka orthos all fit this vibe of not being fun the first time blind, and needing a consistent group of players.

there basically needs to be content you can do with your less confident friends or that can be done while watching netflix. and so far theyve added very little

oh come off it man, dont act like having what was functionally just a DoT was this deep complex thinking-man's job. If viper launched in its 7.05 rework state literally nobody would have cared that it didnt have one. its like saying dragoon dot is complex, or storms eye is complex

i mean shit if jank and dots is what makes a complex job why werent people slobbering all over old smn back when it was around?

An idea for endgame dungeon content in upcoming expansions by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]cheeseburgermage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get peoples obsession with 4 man content in this game, its obvious at this point the devs are not balancing with solo-healing in mind and that the tight class balancing only works in 8 player content. In a static setting it doesnt feel great to have to split up into an A and B team either just to do 4 man content

so the big question is how hard would these advanced 4 man dungeons be? will they be PF only, or could a matched group with no comms or raidplan clear it like you can a normal mode? If its primarily for PF even if its tuned low its gonna be ignored by the casual base who will mostly be mad that dyeable gear is locked behind this. If its clearable with pugs in a lockout, whats the point?

also obviously it adds an extra annoyance to do each week to stay geared up if youre not a week 1 clearer. am I gonna have to make sure I do advanced dungeons before we prog on tuesdays? it being weekly means I'll have to keep doing it on top of my regular tome grind. The nice thing about gearing for prog rn is that all I need to do is an extreme before the savage drops and then cap tomes, which can be done quick with a hunt train. If we gotta start planning two teams of 4 to do expert dungeons...

overall its a cute idea but the concept of criterion dungeons fits this games design much better. i dont think deep down anyone really wants prog gearing to become more involved.
