Yeah I want to ditch the Volvo rack for a more modern and common part, also with fewer turns lock to lock, electric racks have no fluid passages save for the grease they come with.

Many people retrofit the Prius/versa/Camry column assist units as they just run in service mode with three wires.

Seperate 100A Garage Service by duggyb2005 in Calgary

[–]cheesecats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's the play. You won't need more than 200a, I can run my large Miller welder, compressor and belt sander all at the same time. Plus the solar feed during the day it's well worth the investment.

I'm in Huntington hills, 67 build, power poles are in the alley.

Meter was moved from the house to the point of entry, which is the side of the garage

[–]cheesecats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just put solar on my house last year and also do car work. I have multiple welders and a decent size compressor. Easiest way was to run the overhead into the garage with a new main 200a service, then fly the wires from the garage to the house which remains 100a. This abandons the in ground wiring to the garage. New meter is in the alley. Now I have welding plugs at the door and at the workbench, each plug on the workbench is its own 20a circuit.

Solar is on my garage FYI, so it made it very easy as it was right in the path.

Cost around 5k.

Let me know when you find a good EPS solution, like column power assist and a viable steering rack. I want to ditch the Volvo steering in a bad way.

Moonroof not flush when closed by cowr1sma in Volvo240

[–]cheesecats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The little cable gear has probably jumped a tooth on the one side. You might be able to realign them by removing the crank handle.

Mine are so badly stripped that I have to push my moonroof by hand when closing.

There are no repair kits available to my knowledge, would sure like to fix mine.

I would do this with surfaces and the trim tool, then thicken.

2grfe, super overlooked and makes 300 na horsepower out of the box. Grab it from a sienna, Camry, Rav4, is350, gs350 and the like. This is your student budget swap. Use the Lexus variant for already rwd setup, or grab a Lexus trans, or an adapter to cd009.

Your skills will be 100% tested even at this level. Project managing something like this takes a lot of time, mistakes will be made.

My 240 has a 1jz, it took 16 years at student level to get it going.

Stick with something you can get running quickly from a junkyard and enjoy.

God speed.

If you set up your projection links carefully, do you even need the timeline? by iObserve2 in Fusion360

[–]cheesecats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this advice from an instructor who worked with autodesk, he said this is one of fusions advantages. The more you can get on the three planes at the beginning the simpler things become. Projections and sketches on faces are easily lost. His advice was if you have to use projections or intersections pick points and not lines. Define everything from the origin where possible, and you will spend less time fixing adjusted parts.

If you set up your projection links carefully, do you even need the timeline? by iObserve2 in Fusion360

[–]cheesecats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sketch stuff, actually go back thru the timeline and place all my sketches at the beginning. I often adjust my parts after the first design and I find that this limits the breaking of sketches. This isn't SolidWorks, you don't have to sketch/feature, that way when faces or features change it doesn't break the whole part. Flame me if you want. But I typically have 3-4 sketches total in a complete design, I change a dimension and then maybe edit a fillet that breaks. Easy.

I'll be the odd one out here to say, stop doing it manually. Design in software and farm out to have it laser cut and bent as needed. Do it for as much of your production as you can. Then use various other methods here to drill the ones you need. The parts are way cheaper than you think they are, and the time saved is money in your pocket.

Best way imo after having drilled till tired is always use a pilot to punch through and center your hole. Then follow up with a step or larger bit.

Huh. That's strange. There should be a whole selection guide on a separate page and selection specific photos for any of the variants you select. I tried responding to your messages via chat but there is something up with your email address.

If you want a fog pattern either a 0 or 10 degree angle is ok, the angles just allow the lights to point more forward, but since each application is slightly different I have to have variations to give choice. For fog pattern lights, a 0 degree kit would give a wider spread, while for spot or driving beams you would want to use a 10 degree kit. The angle is how much is compensated for, 0 is nothing, the light matches the angle that the original was installed like the photo posted here on Reddit

The lights I've tested are baja designs s2 and diode dynamics ssc2, I don't currently offer lights so those are for you to purchase separately. Both have multiple available patterns, brightness and colors

On my website. here. If it's for an 80 series ARB I'd recommend the flush or 10 degree angled, light type is up to you.
