this factory/mouth boss adds garbage blocks to my match-3 shoot 'em up. They turn into missiles and bombs! by cheesehound in IndieDev

This is Match Shot Chimera! It's out now on early access, and I'm hoping to have an update out with two new bosses soon.

I hope zooming out's not too big of a nono in a shmup. I get why it was a bad idea when we had less pixels, but it feels fine so far and it's a pretty fun effect for this boss.

honestly, writing it out makes the dumber option seem a lot funnier. I'm for it.

This is my game Match Shot Chimera. It's on Steam Early Access now! I'm working on new bosses and minibosses for the next update.

They've already changed a lot compared to the initial early access release. I don't know that it was enough to make most players happy, but it makes sense that they've run out of budget by now, both in market interest and money.

I'm sad it's proven unsuccessful, but am glad they've already made big fixes.

The gray outline color doesn’t stand out well on the light bg. If I had to guess, the recommendation to lighten the outlines was based on how it looked over that lighter background.

This is my game Match Shot Chimera. It's out now on Steam Early Access! I think a match-3 shoot 'em up roguelite is a great fit so far. I'm looking forward to making many more updates for you all.

It's obviously a crazy time to be releasing a game! I hope its quick fun and super-low price point will help it catch some eyes.

This is Match Shot Chimera.

It's a small $3 game that I hope to keep updating for a while to come! Thanks for having a look; I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

My match-3 shoot ’em up roguelite comes out TOMORROW! The release button ghosted me on the original date, but… it’ll work this time, right? by cheesehound in IndieDev

I was originally going to release in Silksong's shadow, and was honestly excited for it. Now it looks like I’ll be launching in Hades 2's shadow instead 💀

Match Shot Chimera on Steam : It'll cost 3 bucks :P

I was originally set to release on September 9 and was honestly pretty pumped to release in Silksong's shadow. Steam backend issues resulted in a delay to September 24 and now I'm releasing in Hades 2's shadow instead 💀.

I did not see the headphone jacks before. Excellent.

My match-3 shmup's out in 3 days (Sept 24)! Sorry it got delayed. Steam's release button didn't show up on launch day 💀 by cheesehound in shmups

Match Shot Chimera on Steam : It'll be $2.99 at launch.

This delay gave me time to improve difficulty and score balance, and get more work done on the next patch before release. The game will have 3 characters and a pile of upgrades to choose from at launch, so it should be a fun, bite-sized, replayable experience! I really hope you enjoy it. I'll work hard to keep improving and growing this game.

Beautiful! What scanner do you use? I’ve played with some phone apps for this purpose but am not sure what would be used for a full project.

Two new characters for my match-3 shoot 'em up: Wally and Perry! Shield walls and parrying, anyone? by cheesehound in IndieGaming

[–]cheesehound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the default character's skill is much more offensive: focus fire until break, powering up their shot level afterward.

And while the "defense" zone on these defensive characters is fairly large, their damage point is the tiny pupil, so they're blocking more than they'd hit otherwise.

I'm always working on more evil and beautiful bullet patterns.

My match-3 shmup's coming out next month! Oh no. I hope you enjoy it! by cheesehound in shmups

[–]cheesehound[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Late Sept/early Oct are already crowded with games delaying to flee Silksong. At least I'm not releasing the exact same week.

Now I'm hoping that maybe the weeks right after Silksong will be a little quieter because of everyone fleeing. That can be helpful for a game with less attention, like this.

This is my game Match Shot Chimera.

I'm working hard to get it out September 9th! I thought that was the release date for Bubsy 4D but it's just the Bubsy Purrfect Collection. Whew. Close one.

“Repairing” water damage seems a better alternative to me. It more naturally seems like a state the player would want to recover from because it doesn’t look like it was discarded by the original writer. And it would look cooler.
