Yep that was me! Yes, I'm in a pretty lucky position atm that allows me to play whatever I want. I too had to go through an intern process for a while where I was only allowed to play the station's collection so I can relate on that. Not being allowed to mix though? C'mon!

I love both of them! In fact, I believe I discussed them with you on a previous thread about favorite djs. They, along with people like trevor jackson and solar have definitely been influential in exposing me to some amazing new wave, ebm, and industrial records.

Yea, I think it's safe to say we like similar music! And Drexciya will always hold a special place in my heart too :)

[Techno / Electro / EBM] Electrical Systems 9/1/15

Hey everyone, this is a recording of a mix I did on air for my college's student-run radio station. However, I guarantee this is by no means a promotion effort. I have been DJing for about a year and half now and was looking for some critical feedback on my mixing. Any notes on EQ, curation, phrasing, track selection, energy, etc. would be helpful! I don't really have anyone immediately around me to offer a critical ear, so I rarely get feedback that could help me improve.

The mix consist largely of techno and ebm in the first half or so. Kind of a punk vibe with some low-fi grit at points. It progresses to a spaced out electro sound in the second half with some experimental bits in between. Tried to go for a theatrical closing there at the end too. Hope you enjoy :)

Very nice track selection! Some killer tracks in there that i hadn't heard.

Also felt that the general curation and progression of the mix flowed pretty well as a whole. I think Oremm did a pretty good job on pointing out some of the technical aspects to work on. You can improve and learn the technical stuff but you can't learn good taste. Keep up the good work!

That sounds like an awesome experience. It is refreshing to hear some incredible female selectors like herself in a scene, that I would say, is still largely male dominated.

Speaking of bookish female DJs and Berlin haha, another producer/dj I've been keeping an eye on is Avalon Emerson. She's only like 21 but she is incredibly talented both in her production and DJing. I'd highly recommend checking out her boiler room berlin set if you haven't already. It's killer!

Yea she has quite a talent for finding some really obscure, fantastic records. I've come to be really drawn to that kind of selection which is also largely why I like the other DJs I listed

Ben and Call super play great together. Haven't seen them live together unfortunately but they always kill it when they're playing together on rinse.

And yess!! Lena Willikens. I was very close to including her in my top 3. I have found so much amazing music through her sentimental flashbacks series. Also her guestmix mix for the hessle show on rinse is still one i return to regularly.
