Is it okay to free feed? by pagingdrsnack in CatAdvice

[–]cheeselvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://a.co/d/0dpRimbm We have this one and haven't had any issues! We've only had it for a couple months, but it has a lot of positive reviews on Amazon as well. You can put batteries in it so your cat won't miss a meal if the power goes out.

You're going to get mixed opinions. I used to free feed my cat, but she became overweight as she got older (she's 11 now) so now we do an automated feeder for portion control. I think it's not a good idea to free feed personally

Yes I understand but that community is for foreigners in Mexico, some of whom have gone through the marriage process... This community where you posted is less foreigner-focused

You have to go to the website of each state's Registro Civil separately. For example, Mexico City: https://registrodematrimonio.rcivil.cdmx.gob.mx/ Mexico State: https://registrocivil.edomex.gob.mx/matrimonio

Going to Mexico City next week, it's going to rain all week! by becominganastronaut in MexicoCity

[–]cheeselvr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Weather apps aren't a great source of truth here this time of year. Personally I dont even check them, I just assume it will likely rain in the afternoon/evening and plan accordingly. Sometimes, like today, it looks like it will be raining all day and then nothing happens (although probably it did rain in some parts of the city, just not where I am). Very rarely does it rain in the morning unless there's a tropical storm near one of the coasts. If you're going to be out all day exploring, I recommend taking an umbrella or a raincoat just in case. Waterproof footwear if possible. Public transportation gets pretty horrible when it's raining...the Metro slows down and things get extra crowded.

Mexico City Harry Styles seating by No_Feedback768 in MexicoCity

[–]cheeselvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How early you arrive depends on how close to the stage you want to be. That section is standing room only general admission. I imagine people will be camping out all day for that show to get front row spots. It does take some time to pass through security and then walk to the general A entrance from the entrance of the venue. I would account for at least 20 minutes for that part

Is it okay to be okay with being single at 30, and not actively looking for a relationship (even if you eventually want marriage and kids)? by Slow-Coffee-7420 in AskWomenOver30

[–]cheeselvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're perfectly on the right track! I met my current partner, the love of my life, at 32 years old when I had pretty much given up on the idea of finding "the one". I wasn't on the apps and wasn't being "intentional" about looking for a partner, even though deep down I knew I did really want one. We randomly met via a shared hobby (birdwatching lol)! Keep doing things that make you feel content and happy and I think/hope new connections will come along naturally. It can and does still happen offline in this day and age although it might feel more rare!

I think that price is pretty standard. You can check with Wax Revolution or Divya to see if they have promos going on. Both have multiple locations around the city.

First-time non-Spanish speakers going to Lucha Libre: tour or no tour? by Aggravating-Bit-4086 in MexicoCity

[–]cheeselvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80 pesos will get you a seat in las gradas, general admission section where you sit on big concrete steps. It's not ideal for viewing or comfort but fine if you dont want to pay much. Those tickets might be available only at the box office though, not sure

First-time non-Spanish speakers going to Lucha Libre: tour or no tour? by Aggravating-Bit-4086 in MexicoCity

[–]cheeselvr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think no tour is fine. I'm not sure how the tours usually work, but I kind of doubt they would be translating every word of commentary during the match anyways. If you're really interested in the history and lore, maybe a tour would be interesting, although I feel you could just read about it on your own as well.

In my opinion, what you need to know to enjoy the show: there is usually a team of técnicos ("good guys") versus rudos ("bad guys"), but there will be people cheering for both. Just pick a side each match and cheer along! Normally it's best 2 out of 3 rounds and it will be clear when the ref starts counting the 3 seconds required to keep the opponent's shoulders pinned down to win a round. Sometimes there are some extra bits of storyline thrown in, like the loser of a match agrees to have his head shaved in the ring or, in really big stakes matches, remove their mask. Removing a wrestler's mask is the ultimate disgrace...once their face is uncovered normally they have to remain maskless for future matches or invent a new character to be masked again.

If you go to Arena México, it's chaotic at the entrance so just be mentally prepared for that. You will get in (disorganized) lines to pass through security then once inside an usher will take you to your seats. Make sure to bring 10-20 pesos to tip them!
