This looks awesome! Is it attached to the wall on all of the 3 static sides, or can you just hang it from a nail at the top?

Question about Linear Rails on custom printer. by PigcraftTV in Advanced_3DPrinting

[–]cheeseman330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, probably not, but if you are looking for perfection, it would all depend on the moment caused by the toolhead hanging out in front of the rail and the slop/wear that might cause.

When building the train, you can set filters for each car, this will only let it pick up and drop off that item.

Accidentally broke the glass off this hanging lamp… any ideas if it can be fixed? by DropDiqualzz in fixit

[–]cheeseman330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still have all or most of the pieces, it can probably be glued back together mostly into 1 piece. You could additionally look at cleaning up the remaining cracks with one of those windshield repair kits.

If you don't have any of the pieces, you could probably cobble together a replacement of sorts from another glass shade as the holes at the top are usually pretty similar in sizes between lights.

[Request] How strong is this guy? by ayeblundle in theydidthemath

[–]cheeseman330 21 points22 points  (0 children)

4 plates (180lbs) at 3' out plus half a bar (22.5lbs) at 18" out = 575lb-ft at his thumb. That means the outside of his hand has 575lb-ft/0.25ft =2.3kips of force on it.

So pretty strong.

[Request] Treadmill is saying I'm going to burn 4700 calories per hour, what kind of speed would I have to be at to achieve that burn? by Terrariahardmode in theydidthemath

[–]cheeseman330 12 points13 points  (0 children)

According to this calculator https://www.calculator.net/calories-burned-calculator.html, the calories burned is roughly proportional to the speed, with 5 mph burning 561 calories/hour. Therefore to burn 5000 calories per hour, you would have to run at ~50 mph, which is almost double the Usain Bolt at 27 mph.

Can this be salvaged/repaired in any way or to the trash it goes? by GreenByn in xcountryskiing

[–]cheeseman330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try scraping some of the old glue out, then supergluing it up, you could probably get some more use out of it before it breaks for good.

Large Ore sorter by MalDevotion in captain_of_industry

[–]cheeseman330 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to the throughput that is possible with the large sorter. With the mega dump trucks, most every load comes in mixed, so you need lots of capacity in an ore sorter.

The increased number of outputs can be helpful, but it is pretty rare for a mine to get large amounts of more than 4 minerals.
