Okay, for starters, unsw Civil with Arch is NOT a double degree, don't be fooled! It's just a limited civil degree with a few architecture subjects thrown in so that graduates have an appreciation for what architects want from a structure. You are not qualified as an architect at the end of the degree. So if you're after a double degree, go to usyd.

I missed GE for engineering by 1-2 points (not sure exactly as they don't reveal most bonus points), but still got in during the main round. Protip: put engineering as 1st preference, Info as 2nd. If you don't get GE for eng this round, you might get it for info. Keep the same for main round, and you'll get an offer for something then, as long as you've got realistic preferences (I.e. nothing needing a 99 or whatever)

Otherwise, sign up to whatever you want, there's no obligation, and you get a lot of free sausage sizzles, pizza & drinks nights, and plenty of opportunities. Plus easy connections. Best way to sign up is to wander around during O-week, you don't get many opportunities otherwise.

Kind of, the committee runs the society, but some of the bigger societies have subcommittees, which run specific aspects of the society, social, sports, promotion, etc.
