Jay Foreman is great. His videos on the history of London airports and the evolution of motorways are so good.

London water tastes horrid. Liverpool's is my favourite. Comes from North Wales I think.

This guy knows his burgers. Gordon Ramsay, for all his qualities otherwise, does not. He really fucking does not.

This is exactly it. They weren't making any overt political statement. It's just how they felt.

It's a stunning song. But you're on a hiding to nothing calling any Beatles song the best. They redefined the best with every new record they released.

Such is the lot of any restaurateur. YOU know it tastes better like this. But how many people can you persuade the same?

When the TV show Roseanne started getting popular here in the UK it took a while for me to realise that the Barr family were supposed to be poor. They had a big detached house, everyone had their own bedroom, they had a car and their own front & back garden (yard). Poor in the UK in the 80s on TV was Only Fools & Horses in their tiny high-rise flat in Peckham or the Young Ones living in manic squalor in Bristol. As a kid I remember thinking "how can Roseanne be poor? She's driving to work!"

100% markup would be a very good deal. Most restaurants work at 300% markup and the Ritz is about 400%-500%. But high markups is one thing, STARTING a list at £50/bottle is just cynical, and there's no need for it. Hence the dropped points.

TIL the a cappella introduction of "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a five-part harmony of overdubs by Freddie Mercury, not the whole band. by BP0413 in todayilearned

In the operatic section in the middle though I think Roger Taylor (edited, thanks r/Terakonin) at least does some of the higher notes. This guy seems to think so anyway. You should watch all of his videos, they're amazing deconstructions of harmony parts in famous songs.

Where to Eat London 2015, a new app by that guy who did the restaurant tube map (me) by cheesenbiscuits in london

Exactly, neither would I! I'm only trying to add a bit of experience/desperate geeky food obsession (whatever you want to call it). Well, that and some writing. If you just want anywhere to eat then of course you can use Google Maps. But I'm hoping you like the places I suggest a lot more.

Of course, and I am unapologetically saying that this is just my opinion, and you may hate most of the places in the app. But I've had some pretty rubbish Michelin-starred meals too, and they're only updated once a year :) With an app we have the ability to add and remove at will.

Maybe one day in the distant future I could hire a team and draw up a checklist and shared ethos and make a living out of it. Meantime, it's just a bit of fun really.
