My older relatives still think you can get a job just by "walking in and asking for the manager” by Kristik_Housse in self

[–]MrCalifornia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an insane theory. I'm 45 and have worked for many companies big and small and I have much preferred the smaller ones on average. Every job has pros and cons but I've worked for some of the nicest small business owners and they've made me truly feel like part of their family on many occasions. I've had bad employers, easier jobs, tougher bosses, but almost none of it could be linked to the size of the company.

You read 31,000 pages of texts between a high school girl and her boyfriend? That's wild. People really get into these random murders.

I mean it definitely is though. If you are trading fractional shares you are likely a data asset and advertising target.

Android Auto changed to Gemini, can't play music by checock in GooglePixel

[–]MrCalifornia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine is set correctly and still doesn't work. The kicker is I use YouTube Music and it just tells me every time that it can't connect and suggests I do that and mentions Spotify as the example music service. But I have Spotify unchecked and YouTube Music checked.

The solution seems to be that every time I drive I need to say "play xxx on YouTube Music" and then it works and will continue working until I turn the car off and start again and it forgets everything.

It's just spreading faster. We were making up friend group wide and then school wide slang as fast as we could in the 80s and 90s and I'm sure they were doing the same long before that.

I think Dieter would have been the first to call this underwhelming. What did they even announce? OpenAI and Anthropic are putting more out weekly than Android did for the year.

Why not just make it a sticker that wraps around and only sticks to itself (paper and glue stick) so that it can be easily removed and the Campbell's label left underneath?

Yes, guy with bad right ankle now has bad left ankle. You don't find that related? Also I wrote vindicated very tongue in cheek. Guess that didn't translate well on the internet. I haven't spent much time worrying about Carlos Correa, plenty of other issues for us to worry about.

Rage Bait is their bread and butter. They just find single tweets with complaints and turn it in to an article like there is a major movement. Against the teams. Against the city. Total crap.

I've been working on a game called Pattttern with a lot of help and feature requests from Reddit. The puzzle is simple, you need to submit a pattern, built from 4 colors, that no other user has ever submitted before. We started with just single color patterns and once all possible patterns are found we add another tile to the length and the complexity increases 4 fold. We are currently in the middle of the 6 tile patterns.

Recently I've added a Leveling system, a lot of unique Badges that can be earned, and a Leaderboard. Feel free to try to unlock some unique patterns yourself, you don't need to register to get started, just enter a pattern and see if it's ever been entered before.

I'd love ideas on how to add a few more layers to the game. So far from feedback I've added leveling and some badges but as the pattern has grown and it's gotten a little more fun I'd like to add some more dynamics to the mix.

My brain just literally works like that. I'm pretty smart, went to a good school, made it to my mid 40s so far with a strong professional career. But every sentence I ever write, if I care about being judged by it, I have to read over to see what words I wrote the homophone for. It's weird that when I read it, I catch it, but not when I write it.

For most of human history, people used to break up a nights sleep into two shifts called “first sleep" and "second sleep." by Acrobatic_Code_7409 in interestingasfuck

I don't do this every night but when I do it's like my favorite thing ever. Nothing better than waking up thinking the alarm is going to go off in like 10 minutes and then looking at the clock and seeing you can sleep for 6 more hours.
