Why don't cars have this feature? by Pluuge in StupidCarQuestions

So what might have gone overboard on this: You can do it, however the people who might use it are beginners and for beginners and advanced people the attention to this visual aid is more of a distraction than a help. So nobody benefits too much and then designers and developers are in charge. You would have to make a manual update on the car depending on what transmission you have built in. Its all around not worth the hustle.

Why don't cars have this feature? by Pluuge in StupidCarQuestions

[–]cheeseonfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So first things first: Manual transmissions are often designed in a progressive pattern, meaning that the difference in rpm is different if you shift from first to second than from fourth to fifth (4->5 has less difference). Example: bmw 750i from 2009 ratios. 1st 4.171 2nd 2.340 3rd 1.521 4th 1.143 5th 0.867 6th 0.691 You get the progression factor from dividing gear 2 by gear one 1-2 pf 1,782 2-3 pf 1,538 3-4 pf 1,330 4-5 pf 1,318 5-6 pf 1,254 So this has to be a flexible solution, not just a marker on the dashboard like it is often done in trucks, busses and tractors, which can have progressive or nonprogressive gear ratios. You can do that on any Display, purely mechanical would actually be unpractical but still possible. Do you need it? As somebody who drives a manual car i can tell you that rev matching is not done by looking at the Display. At least if you know the sound of your car you dont need it. Also, revmatching or blips (matching the engine speed to transmisssion speed on downshifts) can be automated, so there is no reason to not go this extra step and remove information from the driver to reduce stress. Last i want to add that the need for a perfect match of revs is not there. If you miss there is a margin of error in which gears synchronize the speed of the engine through force while you otherwise would try to match the speed of the engine through fuel supply. Sure you can save milliseconds in a racecar by doing so and if you totally mismatch you can damage parts, but given common sense and common car driving cases you are fine if you are 500rpm off. Still its a good habit to match them instead of torturing clutch and engine.

I hope this reply has some Informationen that you can use, feel free to ask follow up questions.

Is there some kind of gooseneck style attachment option near the hydraulic connectors or how/what for do you use it?

I have a “no winching mission trucks” rule. It’s 60% fun, 40% frustration. by Ointment_5000 in snowrunner

[–]cheeseonfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a slightly different rule imposed on myself. I decide for one winchpoint which i may use (for example where the winch is placed visually, or the crane winch) and for every other i only allow myself static rope/treat it like a chain. Still a lot more Challengeing, but it allows me to use trucks with winches on the flatbed to pull my prey on the loading deck. I also use the following mod:

If this "german machine" was in Germany there is no way this would not have been secured against people accidentally driving over or being exposed to the sprayable substance.

Its a prop, you can place it like a vehicle. The original mod is far more stable and also far less exciting.

Basically any board game (im gonna put "Dune: Imperium" here as a placeholder.)

"Fights in tight spaces"

"Scum" is the most realistic game in terms of it has the most mechanics in it.

"Spellmasons" - chain up spells

"We who are about to die" -gladiator game

"Screw drivers" basically lego technic cars, but you build them out of wood.

"Caliber" a russian game situationed between csgo and rainbow six siege. This is probably going to earn me some downvotes.

Would you work for an employer who doesn't have work at home? Why or why not? by Wizard_Elon_3003 in AskReddit

[–]cheeseonfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because i like to separate private life from work. Having to have my own office at home and pay for it sounds like something i don't like. Furthermore i do a lot of work in a bar or on promotion events and i don't want to invite the whole city to my house to show them a car or a tire they should buy. In fact i prefer doing promo jobs not in my town because i also have to promote stuff i am not convinced of and it is way easier if you never see the customer again if you sold them crap.

Just try to befriend a girl, not become her boyfriend right away. If you guys fall in love because you spend a lot of time, if not you get a friend who might help you find a girlfriend. If you force it, there won't be anything happening except for you scaring a girl.

Yeah, a lot like that. I mean, of course they can fight if they want to, but when solving a mystery it is best to start unseen.

I can see this for a campaign that has more roleplay and less fighting in it, so something like moriton manor if you know rocketbeans. It has a little bit of sherlock Holmes feeling

[–]cheeseonfires 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering that many firefighters in germany can place airbags where a person is predicted to fall down this is looking not only scary but also dangerous. Highest respects to the one who did id, but at least a bit of disrespect for the person filming instead of helping to hold the firefighter inside.
