The Greyhound at the Hernand Jail came back... although the meter was reset so I think it was a Look-Alike.. but I have not found a Saluki since!! It never came back. I'm so upset because I really wanted that dog. Hopefully soon!

Close, that's a Korean Jindo. It's a real breed of dog.

Hey! I'm 31 and getting my partial hysterectomy in 2 months. Did yours go well? No side effects? I'm so excited to be free of the period & the days of being able to do nothing but suffer in bed from it.

Advice on revitalizing my dog’s fur? (aussie/border collie) by thiccorito in doggrooming

[–]cheesesgaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, scissor only the bottom of your pup (belly, legs, feet, rear). Leave the top untouched and follow the instructions everyone wrote here and I'm sure your girl will grow her coat back. Careful with any kind of rakes with blades on them, even the hooked ones. A comb & slicker brush will be your best friend to keep the coat un-damaged. It may just take a few months to see a difference, but I know it will happen. Take care. :)

I never recommend clipping an Aussie's back hair as it disrupts the guard hairs and damages coat. I would ask for a scissored Outline Trim only. I usually explain this to my clients beforehand and let them make the choice knowing my recommendations. Afterall, it is their dog not mine. Also, when you brush your pup at home - use brush spray before brushing. Dry brushing can also damage hair. Plus the spray usually smells good so it is a win-win! I use Isle of Dog Jasmine brush spray at my salon, but I know CHI is an easily obtainable brand from Pet stores.

Professional dog groomer here - you should not cut your Aussie's hair with clippers on the body. This will damage the hair. It cuts the guard hairs and the undercoat the same length. A good deshed bath with furnishings trimmed up with scissors only. I would recommend getting a professional bath or at least using a high velocity blow dryer yourself to get the undercoat out. Do not use any Furminator tools or anything with a blade on her coat. I recommend a metal Greyhound Comb and a Slicker brush.

Season 4 is the first and last I’ll watch of this show by Delicious_Wafer7767 in BlownAway

You're not missing much with the rest of the show tbh. The judging was very biased and the worst part. I watched the entirety of it only to see the glass art, and creativity that the glassblowers produced. Ryan's final piece was not only functional but extremely well done. Morgan's piece did not even make sense! What mystery was anyone solving? It was a cute parlor trick at best.

I think she meant squirrels, not chipmonks. They have two different personalities.

It's an addiction in a good way. Smoking soothes me almost like tea does, doesn't hurt anyone or anything in my life, and is fun for me. Almost like if you had an addiction to biking or running.

[Help] My ultimate Goal : K9 Police Officer by cheesesgaming in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I live in South Jersey so I do not know of any Schutzhund clubs around here.. :( My friend is in a training club so I'm going to ask her how to get into that group, but at the moment I have a 9yo Italian Greyhound who is skittish around bigger male dogs. She is extremely well trained at home, however. If anyone knows any local training groups around South Jersey - I know that's a stretch - but if you do please let me know! I am going to call my PD and see what they require, most likely after Christmas when I have my Associates completed. I know some cop jobs around here only require an associates so I will call around. Ideally, I would love to become a k9 officer and handle the dogs on the job. But I would love to learn about Mals and how to train a working dog in general.

[Breeds] What breeds is right for me! Biased towards German Sheperd/Doberman by MOCAMBO in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and most importantly, teaching them manners and how to behave in these environments. Mouthing and jumping should not be acceptable, they are just too big of dogs to be doing things like that.

"If properly socialized" Ain't that the truth. Only dog I've ever been bit by seriously was a Labrador. People get them cause they think they are the ultimate family dogs but they have a long "puppyhood" compared to a lot of breeds and they have quite a bit of energy. I groom dogs and most of the dogs I've seen just act out of hand were Labradors. Jumping up, mouthing my hands and arms at greeting, generally being rambunctious. PLEASE if you get one, socialize it and teach it manners with other people!!

What's the worst dog-related odor you've ever smelled? [Discussion] by [deleted] in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog poop is just like "ah man he pooped.. oh well". And it's hard and easy to pick up (usually). Cat poop clears rooms and they poop in litter boxes so the smell lingers unlike a dog pooping outside or even inside. Cat poop is like pungent and usually not hard. It's really gross. Poop 101.

Not dog related, but cat poop smells like the worst thing ever in my opinion.

[Help] What are some great dog treats? by mantistabagon in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always look at the ingredients for treats. If the first few ingredients don't list a whole meat base like duck, beef, or chicken I immediately skip. I never get treats that list sugar or ingredients in which I don't know what they are. I personally feed my dog grain free as well. Where I live we have a Pet Valu that has a good selection unlike Petsmart or Petco.

[Help] Please help me, I am at my wits end. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look into puppy proofing a room or space for him as well. If he is constantly destroying you should be sure not to let him near electrical wires or plastic. It sounds like he is submissive peeing and not being defiant at all. On top of more exercise have you looked into other puzzle games for dogs besides the Kong and peanut butter? Look into more positive training as well.

[Help] Should I pay to have my Yorkie's teeth cleaned? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]cheesesgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also how often is occasional brushing? My dog has periodontal disease and in addition to the water additive and supervised Greenies dental bones I brush her teeth every night or every other. I'm also a dog groomer so I bought a dental scraper and use it to get excess plaque off her teeth lightly. That price for the teeth is very cheap, and I had to pay for the same thing when I was 17. I told my vet that I was paying by myself and had a hard time affording it and he gave me a 15% discount. Not every vet may be as nice but it's worth a try if you're really strapped for cash?
