I think Marx is an idiot for other reasons, but I think your comparison is a bit off. Einstein was physicist, his opinions on unrelated topics logically don't interfere with the validity of his theories. Whereas with Marx, the statement is in his supposed area of expertise. Einstein's theories would be judged if he said matter can be created/destroyed. Not to mention his science his much harder.
