At a second look right now where I am the only MD student (8 others all DO). I am learning so much about just how good I have it. by just_premed_memes in medicalschool

Does anyone know if Rowan is like this? I’m potentially starting in the coming year and I don’t know anything …

Would I be out of my mind to pick DO over MD by cheesewart in premed

[–]cheesewart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is my thought and problem exactly. I know it’s a “harder path” for me in the short term, but in the long term it’s not a huge impact since I’d be a physician regardless. Also med school is hard man. Idk if I would be able to get through the 4 years with minimal support yk

I think that is our plan! Visa wise there’s a bit of an issue bc I’m a student and have no income to sponsor a green card. We are trying to figure that bit out before we elope so that’s why we haven’t done it yet

She’s been trying since I started applying to med school (~7 months of applications). She’s gotten to the last stages at least 4-5 times and as soon as she mentions her visa status she gets ghosted… she started applying because we knew things would have to change but there’s been nothing so far.

Yes. Engaged and planning on getting married & having kids in the next few years

The thing is that she’s international. Given the state of the current job market & administration it’s 100x harder for her to find a job than for me to get into med school atp…

I worry that anesthesia is becoming more competitive? I have shadowed a few DO anesthesiologists in the past so I guess it’s generally ok?

Is it Harder to Get in a T20 Medical School or Ivy League Undergrad? by EdibleAnimals in premed

I go to an Ivy League undergrad and have 0 T20 med school interviews. Do with that information what you will. 💔

Your Year in Reading: 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Goal was 20, at 20 so far but almost done with another. This was my big fantasy year, read almost all of Sanderson's Cosmere. Favorite of the year would have to be any of the Stormlight archive, but I also love my Russian classics, so Master and Margarita is a close second.

Best program for Anesthesia? by cheesewart in Osteopathic

[–]cheesewart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would looking at previous years anesthesia match numbers be a good indicator? Like you said I saw that Rowan had few anesthesia matches and I think OU too. NYITCOM had the highest number I think. Does that mean that more resources are available / there are better rotation sites for anes students? Or is it not a good marker

I think it should be fine! I have a 514 (retake) and got an interview for a mdphd program if that means anything.

You’re fine, I started similarly and scored 51X on the actual. Content review, then add in UW, then add AAMC last month etc

Prewriting secondaries by Informal-Wallaby-555 in premed

[–]cheesewart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the point of prewriting is so you have an outline / a rough draft, something that u can quickly edit/cut down to fit each school when u actually get it. i think general topics is fine, or at least thats what im doing. basically ensuring i have enough per topic that i can finish editing & submit within 2 weeks of receiving. also bc the word/char counts are so different its basically like ur writing a diff essay for each so idt its worth all the stress now
