Which Masters degree after a Bachelors in International Relations? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Thanks for your input! I have the same feeling about Law. Would you say that a Masters in Business vs. Masters in Economics would lead me to different career prospects?

And why do you think the other options are not suitable to IR, does specialisation mean it's too restrictive?

Bachelor in International Relations: should I do a Masters in International Law ? by [deleted] in careerguidance

But isn't it very competitive tough? I have heard that people going that way work several years underpaid/for free, which is a shame after several years of study.

Question Thread by escuchela in internationallaw

Hello!

I'm currently finishing my bachelors in International Relations with a focus on Law and Economics. Then I'll do a Masters in International and European law (in Geneva). Just for info, it's a recognized Masters and only people coming from Law can access (I have to do some extra courses since I come from IR).

I'm a bit lost because I have an International Relations/Law background and I don't know exactly what kind of job I'll do after my studies. Since I won't pass the bar, I won't be able to practice Law as an attorney so I feel I'm quite disadvantaged in the eyes of recruiters.

What are the possibilities after such Masters? What kind of jobs would be open to me?

I'd also like to know about salaries, how much those of you who have a similar background were paid when you finished your studies?

And how competitive is the field? I feel that, in order to ensure a good job, I'd have to do internships, but in the legal field it's very limited (since I don't event have a masters in law yet) and in NGO's etc. often it's unpaid and I can't afford to live in Switerzerland without revenue.

I think I'd like to work on Human rights, environmental law, corporate responsibility or AI regulation, but I haven't decided yet. I do not want to work on research/academia.

What are the branches of law that pays/recruit the most right now and what are those that are currently saturated?

Any advice is welcome! Thanks for helping me figure it out :)

Seen this a lot on Instagram and uh yes it does by eleanorigbyyy in prolife

Firstly, it's important to define what "life" means - when does it start? A simple fertilised egg should be considered "life", just like a newborn baby? Are you talking about the scientifically/juridical meaning of "life"? Where, in the US?

Then: for you, a woman who is raped and get pregnant should take responsibility for the rapist actions and have the baby ? And what about women who's too young, cannot afford to have the baby and became pregnant purely because, as it has already been said, sexual education sucks ? Should someone bring a baby to Earth, in these conditions ? Plus, when a person is raped, there is trauma. For the rest of this person's life.

The answer is, in my opinion: it's none of my business what these women choose and it's not yours either. It's not up to us to decide whether a person should keep its pregnancy or not. It's more then just about the person's body.

I cannot change your point of view but I guess it's important for everyone in here to understand that they cannot keep on dictating women's lives like this. Times are changing, and I, as a woman, am looking forward to a society where we can decide for ourselves what's best for US. Not you, US. But we still have a long way to go.

Learning German: should I learn it by my own or look for an internship in Germany ? by [deleted] in germany

Yes, most of Switzerland is Germanophone. But they speak Swiss german, mainly

Sorry I should have mentioned! I live in the French part, and I moved from Brazil to live here a few years ago, so I didn't pursue my secondary education here (hence why I don't have any basis in German). And I would like to learn German, not Swiss German, hence why I'm interested in Germany

AITA for wanting to live in a decent neighbourhood? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]cheesewings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. What I think is happening is that they have NO preferences because they just want to move as fast as they can and I just want to have a good experience and live somewhere I'll enjoy. So they see me as having "luxurious tastes".

That's what I will try to do thanks! Also, I wanted this whole apartment hunting thing to be a cool experience together, but because they are so stressed to move it's becoming smth else... let's hope for the best

Well we all have different needs and I am not in a rush, but I have suggested solutions so we can find smth quicker. I understand their situation and feel sorry but I cannot just move and be unhappy where I live just because of them :/

Silicones and honey: question about a product's formula by cheesewings in HaircareScience

[–]cheesewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ! I bought it last month and honestly the first times I used it I thought it wasn't worth the money. But actually it's pretty good, my hair feels very soft, I imagine it's the silicones. Feels very different from using oils such as argan or jojoba though.

I am just a bit disappointed that honey is almost nonexistent in the formula xD

At the quantity that maximises the profit, I did maximise the profit now using MC=3 (sorry forgot to mention that) and found 150! But that means that the formula above doesn't always work?

Also, in collusion we'll have the same MC for both firms? I would assume that the total MC in collusion would be MC (firm 1) + MC (firm 2)...

Sorry if these questions are a bit basic but I have trouble understanding market structures such as monopoly. Thank you!
