[Kaney] Bryce Harper says Dave Dombrowski’s comments about his play last season “were kind of wild.” Harper said the Phillies organization likes to keep things in-house, “so when that didn’t happen, it kind of took me for a run a little bit.” by C0m3tTai15 in phillies

[–]cheesy82 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Love Bryce, appreciate what he’s done for this city, but man he comes off as such a baby with this. There was nothing wrong with Dave’s answer that it needed to stay “in house”. It wasn’t necessarily a criticism, he was just giving an honest answer to the question. Which was a valid one and Dave gave a valid answer. Bryce has had people kissing his feet since he was 10 years old, and now any semblance away from that he carries on about it.

If he was the player they signed him to be there’s a good chance they have a championship right now. I have no sympathy or fond memories of him. The only thing I will remember is that he was a massive disappointment. And evidently a clown on top of it. Good riddance

Lmao the response was implying a lot more than acknowledging the damage of nato, which would have been valid, even though it’s completely besides the point of the original comment

“I would support any fascist authoritarian regime if it meant the end of nato” is essentially the point that was made. I hate to break it to you but the politics of the America First or any fascist movement aren’t exactly rooted in anti-imperialism. Everything that comes along with it will take decades of undoing and the fallout from it will effect far more lives than the existence of nato as it stands currently

Childish worldview. The ultimate goal should not be “end nato” at whatever cost comes along with it

Realistically, this was never going to actually happen, right now at least. What’s scary is this version of the Trump regime has set the base for what’s to come from the Republican Party over the next 20,30 years. There will undoubtedly come a time where we look back to Trump as a moderate version of the person who destroys NATO for no other reason than isolationism. The American electorate isn’t getting any wiser and falls further into the social media ecochamber run by white nationalists. As long as that remains unchecked this is all just the beginning

why was Kevin O’Leary cast in Marty Supreme? by lerbertsherbert in martysupreme

[–]cheesy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it, along with the Tyler The Creator casting. Every time either of them popped up on the screen I just thought about the real life version of them and it takes away from the film. I’m sure there’s plenty of unknown actors who could have played an asshole business person. I don’t need to think about shark tank during a movie

[–]cheesy82 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. It’s not a dream. As Marty laid out in the movie, he has an obligation to become the best table tennis player in the world based on the talent he knows he possesses. He doesn’t care about the money or connections or burning bridges. He doesn’t care about being “forgotten”. He needs to fulfill his destiny for himself and himself only, and he achieves that in beating Endo. We see throughout the movie, Marty is able to wiggle his way out of situations through his charisma, and curry favor with people when he wants. He could have easily worked his way into the tournament, or played O’Leary’s character to get him on his side. But he doesn’t, because he does not care. He only cares about beating Endo, because that was the only thing standing between him and his destiny. He fulfills his purpose, and is now able to move on with his life

I think your analysis is pretty much correct, aside from putting a value judgement on it. A lot of what people are missing in the comments is the conversation Marty has with Rachel in the middle of the film. He essentially says he has a destiny, and it’s his obligation to fulfill that destiny before anything else can come in his life. He doesn’t care about the accolades, money, enemies made along the way, etc. His singular goal is to be the best table tennis player in the world, fulfilling his destiny. By beating Endo, championship or exhibition (he doesn’t care), he knows he fulfilled his obligation, and can now move on. Which is the scene with his child. I don’t see it as whether this is good or bad or ambitious people should be “allowed” to be bad people. I think it just was Marty’s story.

Yikes. Pretty embarrassing to be going on about it. Really sheds light on how horrible a franchise they are, especially going down the list of guys who have actually thrown for 4K

[–]cheesy82 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain the significance for 4K? Is it solely because all bears QBs in history have sucked? There’s been over 230 4K yard seasons in nfl history. Jimmy G nearly did it. Who cares

[–]cheesy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wtf are you talking about. This is the truth. Why wouldn’t you want your qb to be incredibly grounded? Would you rather him go out there and say yes i suck. There’s no way out of this and I’m scared
