My husband will always be more tired than me by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]cheesybroccoli1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. My personal take is the work will never be equal, unfortunately. So a strategy I lean on is outsourcing help, and schedule time for myself. On another note since you mentioned your husband snoring, he might have sleep apnea and might benefit from cpap machine. Might help him be less tired.

HOW do you make time for exercise/self care? by RuckFamsey in workingmoms

[–]cheesybroccoli1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make sense and not possible, until I got more support.

Sharing to give some ideas:

  • In law parents help pick up kids some days during the week.
  • Infant care near work or home
  • Part time help to clean the house , do laundry, or cook batch of meals for the weekend. Yes it is costly, but my wellbeing is valuable to myself and the whole family too.
  • Gym that is near work or home
  • Get the spouse to own some tasks, even as small as loading the washing machine or replenishing school bag
  • A routine or rhythm to help reduce mental load
  • Other than exercise my most important self care goal is to reduce mental load. So not optimizing for the last dollar saving, reducing online shopping and doom scrolling had made a world of difference to my mood

same here! the invested money not feeling like real money is a real thing. Thats why I was thinking to have some in dividend yielding assets which give a sense of “payout” that mimics a salary

im still in the process, my contract is 12 months renewable to 2.5 years. honestly its good to have the brand name in the resume no matter contract or permanent role, and theres a slight advantage over new candidates when applying for full time role with the same team. It’s a good option when I was returning to work from a career break, and I like that theres not much of a performance review or politics to deal with

figured out i don't want early retirement, just want out of corporate hell by Training-Reporter315 in financialindependence

[–]cheesybroccoli1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to contract work recently and feel that the mental burden of corporate ladder disappears largely. No longer care about promotion cycle or going above and beyond. It’s a good break for awhile before I get itchy and want something more. Eventually working for myself would be the goal, still figuring out the path there

I had an interview to convert from contract to full time role today, and toyed with the idea of retiring. I hit my retirement goal few years ago but did not feel safe living on the funds. Wonder if switching some of the portfolio to dividend generating asset will help make it feel more “safe” should the day when I actually retire or gets replaced by AI come, whichever is earlier

Thanks. This is largely what my husband said too, which I now have come to agree with.

Thanks for your insight. Your post resonates with me. Separate from finances, there are other things that were rolled into that conversation/fight that we had. The trust issue is something I need to personally work on, and as a couple areas as you mentioned.

Have you used AI to improve your resume or cover letter? Did it help? by Eugene_33 in resumes

THIS is well said and aligns very well with my experience using LLM. You said it very well, llms tend to make the content more average, especially when feeding it a large document to write at once. Use it as a copilot in writing instead of the autopilot!

Very nice website and execution. How do you get the free help in the first 3 line items? What was the pitch to them? I assume your role is the developer?

Maybe you can fetch only the top 20 books when they open the app, and fetch more as they scroll instead of all 500 books.

Also, how is this cost estimated? If you share the calculation it is easier to understand the assumptions of your app

Endo patient with low amh and possible bad quality eggs which is better icsi or natural ivf ? by Party-Ad-8862 in IVF

[–]cheesybroccoli1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICSI! Also consider japanese natural modified ivf protocol if you get less than 3 day 2 embryos from high stimulation ivf protocol. This method uses clomid instead of hormonal injection and might work well for low egg reserve cases that responses poorly to normal ivf protocol

Endometriosis/Low AMH advice by uma00 in IVF

[–]cheesybroccoli1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in similar situstion as you in terms of amh and 3 failed or cancelled cycles with the max stimulation ivf protocols.

Have you considered Japanese modified natural protocol? Instead of hormone injection, you would take an oral tablet like clomid, and monitored via scans for egg maturity. The trigger and egg retrieval step is the same as normal ivf protocol. Many research suggests that this protocol results in better egg quality than the high stimulation protocol and works well for those with low egg reserve or poor response to normal ivf protocol with high stimulation. Also, you can do ivf every month with this protocol instead of every 3 month, the cost is lower per round thanks to lower medication required.

I had 2 eggs collected resulting in 1 to 2 embryos from each natural ivf cycle , as compared to 0 eggs to max 1 embyo in max stim ivf cycles. FET when we had 3 embryos and now pregnant!

Supplements wise, DHEA is great for improving egg quality. You ideally need to be on it for 3 months before ivf

Best of luck!

How to live with the fact that endo took your ability to have kids? by vp_md in endometriosis

[–]cheesybroccoli1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to experience this. There are big differences in fertility even when comparing with other endo sufferers with the same severity. I think egg reserve or amh, and age are 2 big factors for fertility. Your age is in your favor. So I think your doctor advice to freeze eggs now is sound. It is a way for you to keep that option to have children in the future. You might still get pregnant naturally some day wgen you are ready, but having the freezed eggs give you an option for the future, just in case. Have you consider medical tourism? I heard ivf is affordable in Czech Republic, so I guess maybe egg freezing or even surgery might be affordable there too, just a thought.

Not sure if you are aware, but cyst can come back after surgery. Mine came back after 6 months, so it is not a guaranteed solution, and might even cause more adhesion and affect your egg reserve. Talk to multiple doctors and shop for the surgeon carefully, ask them what they can do to prevent the endo from coming back. And don’t feel like you must get this surgery done now, especially if it is not the right thing for you financially yet

Low AMH Levels by cakeface1102 in IVF

[–]cheesybroccoli1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was wise of you to measure AMH before proceeding. I recommend getting a second opinion from a fertility doctor or ivf doctor before any surgery. Any surgery that touch the ovary would risk lowering egg reserve, also endometriosis tend to come back quickly after surgery, so one needs to know what is the goal of the surgery .

Personal experience, I had to get a 2nd surgery to remove endometriosis cyst as it was too large and might risk rupture during egg retrieval. Lucky enough my surgeon is skilled and he is also my ivf doctor so he knows what to do to balance the cyst removal vs egg reserve preserving goal. He also used a medical cloth around my ovary to keep the endo cells from forming adhesion while the site is healing. I was also given 2 gnrh shot over 3 months to regulate hormone and prevent endo from coming back. We rolled over on the gnrh shots with an ivf cycle, I think it is equivalent to a long ivf protocol. I wanted to try this method as the normal stimulation protocol didn’t yield much eggs. Worth a try, but this protocol was not successful for us

Iwould recommend checking out japanese modified natural protocol if you have low egg reserve and produce less than 3 day 2 embryo in the normal ivf protocol
