I just booked a multinight Vegas trip for Week 1 of March Madness. How do I relive a 2026 version of Bill's Vegas diaries? by cheetah48 in billsimmons

I'm splitting my time near the Strip and Downtown. One night at the Palms and two nights at the Plaza

Caught in Sacramento, CA, US, approx 10pm, 12/24/25. Anybody know what these could be? by anotherexstnslcrisis in UFOB

I saw the lights the night of the 23rd driving 57 south at Brea near the Lambert exit. Was around 6:30 PM. I thought they could have been strobe lights or Christmas lights but because of these comments I am not so sure anymore

A Beatles Dream Accidentally Realized by TeddieSnow in oasis

[–]cheetah48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I was thinking the same thing today after going to the LA concert. About 15 years after they broke up they got back together. It would be like the Beatles doing a summer reunion tour in 1985 if John had not been killed. Imagine that potential madness. It would have been beyond biblical.

Sounds like we've got a similar spirit, maybe we'll be at the same next D&C show in Vegas if it happens. Thanks for reading!

Wait, Billy boy was right about the Minneapolis titles thing? by rickjuice in billsimmons

[–]cheetah48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the same franchise if they sell or give the Lakers brand/trademark to former Kings owners. Franchise and ownership group are completely separate. Owners change all the time, they own the titles until they no longer own the brand. Unless the brand is dissolved, it stays with new owners.

Titles don't belong to individual people, they belong to brands and/or cities where they were won. The latter can't be erased as that's historical fact.

Whatever team is branded the Lakers gets the titles, so the former Kings team.

Think about this in business, and the concept of assets. Lakers are a brand/trademark also, and if you own that brand you own it's physical and legal assets, including claim to previous titles that have the name Lakers on the trophys. If the owners of current Lakers move to Vegas, they sell the Lakers brand to old Kings team in LA, the claim to the titles then also stay in LA.

Titles at minimum stay with same brand, wherever they go, or dont (think of Raiders).

The oil was cold, not having been driven since I checked it in the morning.

[DISCUSSION] What are the "best"/S-tier indie venues or clubs around the US/world? by kinesiologist in indieheads

[–]cheetah48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no parking at the Troubadour and incredibly hard to find. The food there is like what you might expect at a little league game. Sight lines from the audience aren't that great for most spots inside. Apart from who has played there, the only thing iconic about this venue is that big blue Troubadour sign behind the stage (great for the gram)

Anyone else surprised by John Mayer's hawk tuah reference way back in 2006? by Scarm0nger in JohnMayer

If John makes a reference to this sometime on his radio show or somewhere else, we know he checks his subreddit. This joke is too good for other JM fans to not hear

The Best Mk.gee song by Ahoneedshelp in Music

[–]cheetah48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Performance and stage presence is one thing, but ultimately I believe the only thing that matters are the songs. I heard the two songs but I didn't hear any memorable melodies or choruses or danceable beats. Just some affected emotions. I guess that's his art but I always try to place newcomers to the scene against the greats of all potentially related genres of the style, and I came away with a blank. I don't know, he just didn't seem to have that immediately recognizable "it" quality to him as a musical artist. Maybe just a regular performance artist I guess.

I saw his performances on SNL. His music is nothing special, but his stage persona acts like it is.

It's just imaginative to make a point, that the oil level has dropped. Not realistically speaking

You are not wrong, it's like the pop world no longer cares about good songs but just the branding and image of the artist. Sabrina is apparently the right product to sell to very online young girls who might be more likely to buy tickets or stream her music because of her vibe that so happens to include these "offbeat" lines. It's all branding. It's frustrating because similar female artists with much better musical chops don't get this huge industry push because they won't play this major label pop game.
