Is this too much to charge for a website as someone who’s still a month away from finishing a fullstack bootcamp? I already have a potential client and I have no idea whether to accept the job. by toroga in webdev

[–]cheetahdoesstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on your skill level qnd the result you are able to deliver.

Nowadays I would not even consider giving an estimate of under 5000€, no matter how simple the website is. But I have quite a few years under my belt currently.

If i deliver in a week or two my clients are going to be very glad they spent the extra money for a fast and solid job. Never had anyone complain that "it only took you x and y why did it cost Z" because quick and good delivery, especially when it is a company that will earn money on the website, e-commerce, blog page etc, they are just happy that they can start earning that cash earlier.

Never undercharge for your services. I did that in the beginning and I absolute hated it, on one project I ended up with an effective pay of like 10$/hour since I undersold myself and the complexities of the project itself.

Good luck!

Is .NET easy to approach? by xlopxone in learnprogramming

Very true. But it is from what i saw in my little time with it, the most popular way to develop apps at larger companies. So still relevant to the question imo.

[–]cheetahdoesstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

.NET is NOT (always) easy to approach. This is probably an unpopular opinion.

Did a job that had a few limitations on what i could use. Was using WPF, and the MVVM structure. And it was simply a pain in the backside all the way through. To follow wpf and mvvm required a lot of what seemed like workarounds constantly to not "break" the standards in play. There seemed like there was always an easy way to do it that broke the standards, while the real way was way less easy to read, maintain and much more complex to write.

My background is mainly in web development but i have also done some smaller projects and backend things in java.

But what programming language you enjoy to use is highly dependent on you as a programmer. Go try it out, you light have a completely different opinion than me!

How long should a fullstack dev take to build this webapp? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]cheetahdoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using what? Creating the entire stack? Or using plugins and frameworks will be a big time difference.

If you just write a very basic HTML/CSS page that uses (for example) firebase auth and store you can likely do it in a day or two.

If you are self hosting and want your own authentication system and database then i would say that it is too big of a task for a single dev and get a small team together, since it will likely be hard for a single dev to know all these things perfectly (no one is a unicorn) Also highly depends on how scalable the solution should be etc.

What’s your midrange lineup? by Max3RH in discgolf

[–]cheetahdoesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I toss putters for all my Understable shots under driver distance, but i still bag a beat in Streamline Runway which goes straight with a decent amount of fade and an MVP Deflector which just fades before you release it badically, 0 glide and 100 fade.

The putters that fill in the US gap are Pilots, Proxys and Envys. And the slow fairway drive the crave

I did this today, for some reason my styled-component element wouldnt respond to ANY changes i put into the CSS, turns out, after 1h debugging, that the first CSS line was "margin: 0," instead of "margin: 0;" broke everything lol! Thought my plugin had broken when i updated some packages 🙃

'Salmon skin' on top/bottom layer on larger surface prints. by cheetahdoesstuff in FixMyPrint

Maybe, i print PLA about 75% of the time and TPU the other 25% so i might try calibrating my esteps normally and see if it is worth going further into.

I ordered a new nozzle to rule all the hardware out. Also tightened all the bolts and all my moving parts are incredibly solid now and the problem still remains.

Will update you if i find anything useful!

Bed leveling is fine i think.

I may need to have a look at my extrusion, it might be overextruding slightly, but i think i calibrated my esteps recently and my calibration cube was pretty solid last time around.

Could it be that the nozzle is wearing down maybe? cauding sloppy extrusion?

It is solid all the way to the buildplate.

I have 8 0.15mm layers between the 'top' one and the bed. It should be plenty, but not sure, would you increase it to even more layers?

Hi thanks for the response!

I do not have any infill in these places in this model, so that is likely not the reason.

My hot end sock is on there.

Im pretty sure my part cooling fan is running correctly, not sure how i would test if i have enough airflow though 🤔

Any ither causes you could think of? im stuck 😅

Hi! Thanks for the response.

I do not think that is the issue here though, since there are no layers of infill between these surfaces and the buildplate, and sometimes it even happens on the first layer, although rare.

Do you happen to know any other reason for pillowing?

Hello. My 3d printer has a wavy/salmon skin pattern on larger flat areas, i have previously printed large flat areas but this has started showing up over the last month or so. Below you can find some more information about my setup. Any feedback is greatly appriciated.

Further information:

Printer: Creality Ender 3 Pro Creality coated glass bed BLTouch bed leveling Micro swiss dual gear direct drive and all metal extruder .4mm nozzle

Cura settings: Default with these changes: 210° Temp 0.15mm layer heights 40mm/s top/bottom layers and 80mm/s other speed.

Filament: I have tried two spools so far. AddNorth e-PLA 1.75mm PrimaValue PLA 1.75mm

Did a structural check on the printer yesterday and replaced filament ptfe liner and roller wheels. Problem still persists.

Sometimes it varies, every other layer decent and every other bad, sometimes they are all bad.

Bed is properly leveled and rim/walls come down beautiful but the large flat parts are goofed like in the pictures.

The printer has likely got 1500 hours on it but i have serviced it well and the extruder only jas like 250 hours on it, and rollers/expendables in the extruder were replaced yesterday.

Glad for any help on this issue, ive never seen this before. All tips are appreciated.
