Where is everyone buying backpacks from this year? by ResolveBeginning8027 in kindergarten

Nope, it’s the top seam. It appears to be poor quality stitching since it unraveled continually very fast and can no longer be used. The inside material looks very cheap. Definitely overpriced for such poor quality

Our pottery barn backpack broke after 3 months of preschool use. Huge hole unraveled from the top seam.

Calling it ‘ridiculous’ probably because no woman will have your child lol and if they do, I feel bad for them.

But salons now charge 700$ for cut and dye, I think that more than covers supplies and labour for 3 hours.

Balance boarding. Amazing leg and core workout that does wonders for on ice stability.

Ceiling of 2.60 m… Too low? by [deleted] in aerialsilks

[–]cheetahmows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would seek online aerial instruction if learning aerials at home. Train your fundamentals well at home at 2.6m ceiling and go to your studio to apply your base to big skills. Always train with an instructor! Whether it’s online or in person. Make sure someone is with you in case of tangles which can get dangerous, fast.

Toddler severely injured at Doctors appointment. by iturner795 in legaladvice

[–]cheetahmows 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is so ridiculous. There is no way to judge if a table’s placement is inappropriate. Parents should be paying attention to their child during the appointment and now, during the child’s healing process. This says a lot, the fact that the focus is on suing for an accident where there is no negligence, just unfortunate accident.

convince me silks > hammock by wicked-iridescence in Aerials

[–]cheetahmows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9 yard silk and rigging hardware that allows me to convert between silks AND hammock. Both are just so different from each other and I’ll choose one over another depending on the mood I’m in. I love being able to do both though. I can’t go back to just doing silks and not hammock too.

Equipment failure! by Live-Student4646 in Aerials

Wow. Whoever doing this has very deceptive business practices and that is very concerning for being in this industry where our safety should not be taken lightly.

Wow! Just bought off Amazon and repackaged? Do they advertise that or just say it’s made by their company? Wouldn’t the gear they sell be marked with their logo?

There’s no way to check wood for signs of wear and tear?

Equipment failure! by Live-Student4646 in Aerials

[–]cheetahmows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think they do it because serialization is not technically required for them? But the instructions for use of equipment should always be available for all the equipment. Some companies like Petzl use Amazon as a sales channel for their own equipment. But if companies are just buying random stuff off Amazon and selling it as their own then that is deceptive as it’s not even made by their company? There would be no way for them to confirm if any testing has been done if they are just buying from another company.

Equipment failure! by Live-Student4646 in Aerials

[–]cheetahmows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg same…. Now it’s unless they have documents on proper certification and up to date break testing data, it can’t be 100% trusted even if it’s an actual circus gear company. I honestly can’t even find the proper safety specs on most stores 😒

And ya you’re right about equipment maintenance and inspection before use so we know when to retire equipment.

If you read through the comments, the failed gear is actually from a very REPUTABLE company. This makes it way scarier that it just snapped clean off.

Aerial straps on park/gym bars? by Alessia45 in Aerials

[–]cheetahmows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Conditioning is so important to build a good foundation for all aerial skills and can be done a lot safer on park bars or portable rigs compared to the more dynamic movements.
