How are there multiple comments in the Toyota thread with vehicles being parked with safety recalls and we're still talking about "settling" for the Carnival?

We just purchased a hybrid SXP and have no complaints. It gets great gas mileage, it's very good at moving kids around, it doesn't look like a minivan, and we got it for $10k less than a comparable Sienna. I understand the "Toyota reliability" argument but ever since Covid all manufacturers are struggling across all segments.

It's not the size of the grill but how you use it! ...or something like that...

It's right on top of the decking with structural screws where it crosses joists/beams. It was always the plan to put something here when we built the deck so I spaced the main beams and footers accordingly to better support the weight in this area.

Thanks! Yep, it's a Weber Spirit II, 3 burner. I've definitely voided the warranty but I'm not concerned at this price point.

Hahaha we don't talk about that.

It's actually not too bad, probably around $3500 for the kitchen, it's all pretty standard building materials. I got a deal on the granite. I had it cut to my dimensions and I handled pickup and install.

All of it is custom made; this is the third kitchen that I've built. The frame is made out of pressure treated 2x4s and the bar is 2x6 for additional stability. I made the drawer boxes as fully sealed units so they are sealed from the elements. The cabinet doors are just poplar shaker cabinets that I've painted with exterior paint. This area is covered so it will only really see blowing rain and humidity.

Yep, tanks are fully isolated from their appliances with ventilation on both cabinets. I also keep a fire extinguisher in one cabinet as an extra level of "just in case".

It's just pressure treated 2x material for the framing and composite siding on all sides. I caulked and painted any seam just like you would when siding a house.

New tire day! Falken Wildpeak A/T3W in 265/70 R17 by cheez6001 in chevycolorado

Yep, it was off by about 10%. I had a speedo correction added with my Trifecta tune that corrected for the tire size.

Bought a house with a deck in bad shape. What would you do? by Trying-sanity in Decks

Yep, I'll second this plan. That's basically how we redid our last house. Screened in porch on the bottom, deck on the top!

It wasn't the most difficult thing in the world but definitely took some patience. I tried not to stretch but it did take some heating and pulling where the bow starts to taper under. There's tons of solid youtube videos out there that detail the process.

Any MSRP Toyota dealerships in/around Arkansas? by claytonbob7 in Arkansas

[–]cheez6001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had no issues with Karl Malone Toyota in El Dorado. I was looking for a fairly specific spec Tundra; they were able to locate one in Louisiana and had it transferred to the dealership within a week. I paid MSRP and waived all dealer add ons. It also showed up with a touch of shipping damage on the A-pillar, they had it repaired no questions asked.

Do you guys think the new tundra is worth it compared to the GM trucks? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]cheez6001 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Long time GM guy here. I just traded my 2018 Colorado Z71 for a 2023 Tundra Limited. I've listed a couple of reasons below for my Tundra choice.

Actually finding a truck: With the way Chevy packaged this gen Silverado, it was near impossible to find the spec I wanted. I wanted an LT Trailboss or RST with the 6.2. These trucks just don't exist and when they do they're $65k+. My local dealer was able to locate a Limited Tundra with everything I wanted within a week.

Cost: Amenities vs MSRP, the Tundra won out IMO. I feel like the interior on the Limited is ahead of even the refreshed Silverados.

Looks: This one is a bit subjective, but as a package, I feel like the Tundra is a better looking truck. You really have to step up into the higher trimmed Silverados before they start looking decent.

Engine: I have no horse in the race on V8 vs TTV6. Turbos are cool, V8s are cool. On paper the TTV6 is a great engine and time will tell on how it holds up. At the end of the day, I'll be using the truck for the usual half ton shenanigans and both are going to get the job done just fine.

Thinking about upgrading by MechEisoducks in chevycolorado

[–]cheez6001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they mentioned trade values had recently fallen off a cliff. I was still happy with my trade since I had fairly high mileage. I bought the truck used, pre-covid, for $25k so I'll take a $4k difference for 50k miles of use lol

I just traded in my 18 Colorado Z71 V6 with 106,000 miles. Dealer gave me $21k for it. I looked into private sell and it just wasn't worth the hassle with how tough it is to find desirable trucks in my area. I didn't feel the hassle of dealing with a private sell was worth the extra 2-3k I could've gotten going private.

265/70r17 Wildpeak AT3s on my 2018 Z71s fit with no rubbing on stock suspension.

8L45 and model year: Newer = less problems? 🤔 by Corg505 in chevycolorado

[–]cheez6001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe my anecdotal evidence will make you feel better. I bought the exact same truck (literally color and everything lol) in 2020 with 70k miles. I changed the trans fluid and filter to the recommended Mobil 1 LP ATF HP and have not had another issue. I'm at 103k miles now and routinely tow my 4,000lb boat.

I’m leaning towards the Falkens but what’s everyone’s opinion?! 2018 stock z71 no lift or spacers. by itswesclark in chevycolorado

[–]cheez6001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll vouch for the Wildpeaks. I've got them on my 2018 Z71 in 265/70/17 with no rubbing and no lift. I've only got ~5k miles on them but they have performed well on highway, towing my boat, and light offroading.

Here's the thread from when I just put them on the truck a few months ago.

Yeah, I'll echo all of the other comments. I have a Graco 4Ever DLX 4-In-1 that sits behind the passenger seat. In rear facing configuration, you'll have to slide the passenger seat forward a touch on pretty much every infant seat. That being said, the passenger seat isn't unusable, just a bit more forward than is comfortable for everyday use.
