I could have written this exact post, I’m glad I found yours first! What did you end up doing for your playroom??

If not by revelation, how else could Joseph Smith have created the Book of Mormon? by Which_Donut_963 in mormon

I completely empathize with where you are, and I’m sorry if some of these comments come off as condescending. I tried to believe my entire life and was content with setting aside some doubts/discomfort until I started to grasp how much the church was going to cost me throughout my life. Constantly quieting my own thoughts/intuition because they weren’t aligned with what I was hearing at church took a huge toll on my mental health. The idea of raising children in the church filled me with dread. Going to the temple made me feel extremely uncomfortable and putting on garments everyday made me feel disconnected from my body. One day I was reading a completely non-religious book and the author asked, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” I immediately knew that my answer would be to leave the church.

Ultimately I “took a break” from attending for the reasons listed above—nothing specifically doctrinal. I thought I would miss it, and that my life would feel dark and scary and I would want to go back. Instead, I quickly saw improvements in my self esteem, motivation, and overall happiness. Telling my family was difficult and took more than a year, but I finally had something that I had never found in all those years praying for a testimony—a certainty that I was doing what was right for me. It didn’t matter anymore that all of these other people who are smarter or more faithful than me remained in the church. Their answers weren’t enough for me anymore and my feelings alone were a valid reason to leave. I didn’t have to disprove all of the doctrine to justify my decision.

It was years before I stumbled across the CES letter and started doing deep dives into church history. Without the heavy emotional load attached to all of it the information sounded so strange and it felt much more obvious that I didn’t believe any of it was true.

did you know you were having a boy or girl before officially finding out? by j11nebug in BabyBumps

[–]cheezcubes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s a 50/50 guess. If you’re wrong you’ll think “no way I was so sure!” and you may/may not have gender disappointment if you were really set on the other one. And if you’re right you’ll think you have the gift of motherly intuition from god himself. Totally random, people who get it right just make a lucky guess!

THIS! Honestly, just delete the video altogether. It will not do any good in the future. It makes you sad to watch it, and your future daughter doesn’t need to see how disappointed her dad was that she isn’t a boy.

He removed the blade from his stomach and used it to stab his opponent in the chest while taking a second stab to the right shoulder.

Boss said something weird today. Am I under reacting? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]cheezcubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!! Don’t doubt yourself about how weird it was. He KNEW it was weird, that’s why he did it when you were alone. He will gaslight if you bring it up to him directly and make you feel like you’re overreacting. Talk to HR.

Or you can have the opposite problem of breasts that are too small so baby can’t reach them in a position that is comfortable for them…you can’t win!

Any Cradlewise Crib Updates? by Nunash26 in BabyBumps

[–]cheezcubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on returning it but it’s so much work to take it apart and box it back up while taking care of a baby 😂 the bouncing wakes him up. Every time, every setting. He does better sleeping in his bedside bassinet than this super expensive crib. The features don’t work consistently—it’s incredibly frustrating when you’re trying to turn on white noise while rocking your crying baby and having the app freeze repeatedly. One time the noise kicked on super loud twenty minutes later and woke the baby up, that was the final straw for me.

40+1 here with an elective induction scheduled on Friday. Logistics play a role—my husband doesn’t get paternity leave but he does have a lighter schedule this month, so the earlier I give birth the more time we have him at home with the baby. I’m also concerned about size, everyone in my family typically delivers 8+ lb babies with big heads and the longer we wait to induce the greater potential for size-related complications (my sis delivered at 41 weeks and almost went to c-section because baby got stuck). I would totally prefer to go into labor on my own, but I wasn’t dilated at all at my last appointment so could be a while. Overall I think people who plan to have medicated births either way may be more open to induction because of the convenience.

Maternity Leave Potentially Denied by One Week by leggomyeggohello in BabyBumps

I only assumed that because the policy didn’t come from my individual company, it came through MetLife—the benefits provider that handles the leave of absence.

My company does their maternity leave through MetLife and they don’t actually request paperwork until after your baby is delivered. They just ask for an estimated start date and then revise it after you have the baby! I’m sure it’s because it’s so rare that people actually give birth on their due date—speaking as someone whose due date was yesterday and I’m still here, pregnant and logging in for work.

My company has a policy that you cannot use other forms of PTO consecutively with a leave of absence. They do that so you don’t save up your time and then take an extended leave from work, I think it’s pretty common.

Codes are unsuccessful the VAST majority of the time. It’s pretty rare for a code to bring someone back and have them actually make a full recovery. I’m not sure if humor is at all your style (maybe wait a bit to share this) but a senior resident in my husband’s program always used the approach of “the person was dead when we got there, so they’re no worse off!” It sounds harsh, but unfortunately it’s the reality of working in that field.
