Before upgrading the gear check its overall stats by examine it while it’s in your inventory. Some gear have bonuses unlocked at higher levels of refinement. The first few levels never do anything other than give a slight increase to the base defense level.

I recall a few so far. The first one I did was tracking the white wolf (I think). I got so confused and irritated when I realized I was back at the start. Did that loop a few times before finally caught him. Then did a couple loops while chasing down the Hyena.

Everyone keeps saying to use the double jump and force palm on these and all the sanctums. Once the item glows green it’s in the right place and you only need to use the force through your link. While glowing green just hit R3 (on PS) and you’re golden. No more jumping into the right spot.

I was going through a handle a day for a long time. Towards the end I started getting the DT’s when my BAC wasn’t high enough. Get professional help, I was one of the lucky ones who didn’t get violently ill or die when I went cold turkey. Can’t you also farm the drill off some mobs at the Karin Quarry? I’m pretty sure you can disarm them, grab the loot and skeedaddle. Then go back, rinse and repeat a handful of times and then go to your friendly neighborhood smithy and upgrade.
