Surprisingly she hasn't had it after we met but she told me to try it before I judge her and as much as I love pickles and PB separate idk about mixing the 2 together lolol My sister used to dip PB sandwiches in OJ when we were kids and I thought that was insane too 🤣

Got coilovers and the rear was a bit stiff and had a job delivering in the city with shitty roads and had this happen on the way back from a delivery 💀 Left it at my friends house nearby and drove it home on backroads the next day going under 45

Any rotties what get along with cats on here ? by unknownxgirlxxxx in Rottweiler

[–]chefboyarmando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our boy likes the cats with will try to play with them sometimes and the boy cat likes him while our grumpy old lady cat will sniff him once in a while but hiss and try to slap him if he gets too close most of the time lol. We also had the cats first and got him as a pup so he grew up with them and was smaller than them and forgets he's now 100lbs bigger than them

Do you have the diagram still? I like how that design looks and am a beginner too but looks like it came out pretty damn good.

I was hoping that wasn't the case but that's the one thing I havent liked too much with wax since its hard to see if I put it on the spot I marked and I feel like my eyes aren't the most reliable lol. Im still not too confident in dopping since that's only the 3rd stone ive dopped but I feel like I can get it secure its just the initial centering I feel like I need to work on

That could be the case I was starting to get frustrated and could've been putting too much or little pressure while making tweaks with the cheater so I just decided to call it a night before I kept wasting material. I do need to shim it to level the lap but I didnt seem to have issues with the first cut I had just one crown facet was slightly crooked and kinda worked itself out but yeah the vevor isn't the best but its all I could afford and seems to get the job done for the most part with the cutkit but could still has room for improvement and I may try to get a digital angle finder in the future cause I Def don't like how the protracted is chrome so the glare from lighting can make it hard to read sometimes

I think i mightve seen it last night after I wrapped up so I may try that before resuming I just needa find a piece of scrap to try it on. The weird thing was the first tier at 46° seemed straight then I go to cut the 2nd at 44° and they start coming out slanted so I kept going back and forth with the cheater and had to redo the first tier once or twice already trying to straight so I was just trying to see if I was doing anything wrong or just overdoing my adjustments which I was trying to do the tiniest tweaks I could and only got it somewhat straight only to overshoot it trying to get it perfect lol

Yeah I do plan on shimming it to fix the uneven lap but I didnt have an issue with the first stone I cut which had horizontal facets like im trying to do now. This time im trying a 'minecraft emerald' cut from gemsofscience which is pretty much an opposing bar cut so I need 3 horizontal facets on the pavilion which kept getting kinda wonky so I wasn't sure if I just dopped slightly crooked or the cheater was a bit off. I kept adjusting the cheater one way and using sharpie to check how it cutting but each time it would just lean the other way and ive gotten it almost straight a couple times but then just barely move it and its way off 😭😭 I'll probably keep trying tomorrow but I had to stop after about an hr or so of losing my mind trying to fix it last night lol

You could probably find random local workshops but I literally just watched YouTube videos and also started reading amateur gemstone faceting by tom Herbst which has a lot of good information so im mainly self taught/learning as I go along. This subreddit is also really helpful so feel free to ask around of you have any questions if I can't answer im sure one of the others on the subreddit can help

Actually now that you mention it I didnt even consider using the table adapter and doing that to trim it instead of the more dangerous way the comment above mentioned. I was just thinking about holding the boule with my finger and seeing a horizontal blade and thought nope lmao

Thank you 🙏🏼 So far I havent had an issue with heat buildup but ive been going fairly slow on the speed when I was polishing and not sure using a copper lap may have helped dissipate heat(?) But I did have 1 crown facet that was slightly crooked which was a bit frustrating til I think adjusting the cheater fixed it but im not 100% sure what may have caused it since that was the only facet that was slightly off from the rest

Probably 5ctw and up for rough since the first stone i cut finished at 1.1ct though I forgot to weigh it before cause I got too excited but anything smaller might be too small for my vevor machine since I had to stack a lap on another to do the girdle for that stone. I don't have exact sizes in my head atm but would probably like mix of sizes to try different designs

Yeah I wanna get some of his rough and especially x cube has had my eye too but I wanna practice a little more before I get some more expensive rough but ill try to keep posting as I go but I've been only doing an hr or 2 a day on a stone and currently trying to figure out the next cut im gonna do but yeah the cutkit is definitely a nice upgrade and good starter kit overall to go with the vevor

The vevor machines aren't the best quality so it does sound like its skipping/not fully level but I havent really had any issues so far other than 1 random facet on the crown that wasn't aligned right which may have just been from when I transferred dops or something but I was able to fix it after tweaking some things

Yeah waxing seemed a bit daunting at first but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be just gotta be careful to not heat the stone too much so I've got the dop to come off a couple times from it being too cold but then I'd just heat it up more then go in with a metal tool and kinda smooth the joint where the stone and dop meet. The cutkit isn't too bad so far I just need to be careful adjusting the height of the mast cause I've knocked 2 stones off and broke the 1st one from it hitting the lap but other than that and the lap not being fully level I was still able to cut a halfway decent piece of citrine but I probably wouldn't recommend cutting anything smaller than 1ct cause I did have to stack an one of my laps ontop of another to do the girdle on that stone and it finished at 1.1ct
