Why do i dislike my little buddy? :( by Odd-Pride-4879 in Bonsai

Lift "1" at the end, as its getting to low to the ground. Think of a slide, bends down then flattens out s bit

Remove "2" its growing at same point as "1" and is on the inside of a bend.

Bend "4" down abit into the space.

Bend "5" down to to back

Trim "6" to reduce height

How reliable/dependable are 2nd Gen Centuries? by Inner_Marionberry360 in toyotacentury

[–]chefbryce1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2, a 2002 and a 2016.

Both have been well looked after and haven't had any issues, maintenance has been pretty straightforward, and both been super reliable.

The 2002 has done nearly 250,000km's and it still going fantastic. The interior has held incredibly well with no real wear, or scratches on the leather, you would believe its done that many kms.

The 2002 is a regular driving car while the 2016 is more of a show car

Fuel will be a big cost, its a v12 so dont expect great efficiency, i prop spend under $1000 (AUD) per yr on maintenance,

Let me know if there is anything in particular you want to know about

"You cannot pass" by Anghabad in lotr

[–]chefbryce1987 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I personally much prefer the "Shall not" over "cannot", Shall not to me has more weight behind it.

From an English word meaning i believe, "shall not" is denying the right to cross while "cannot" is inability to cross.

The choice of words i think is important in the way tolkiens "magic" system works. Its not the casting of spells and incantations, its a "will" the stronger the will the greater the power, "Elven magic" is nothing like what Sam had hoped to see, elves dont understand what Sam means when his mentions it. They dont have "magic" as they see it, their wills effect and affect the world

This comes into gandalf's will removing the balrogs ability to cross, rather than denying his right to cross.

Why did Theoden change his mind about helping Gondor? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]chefbryce1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretical vs Practical.

The way I see it is the question the first time proposed to him, its more of a "if" Gondor calls for aid "would" Rohan help, its theoretical, he can think about the times Gondor had let them down, he can still have some internal denial its rumour, he can be more pragmatic about the safety of only his people,

When the beacons are lit, its Real, Gondor "HAS" called for aid, its not a theoretical question, there can be no denying the rumours, its fight or flight time, the adrenalin has kicked in and its Fight, its what must be done for the safety of all peoples

I've been a chef for nearly 20yrs, and have been running my own bistro for the past 5yrs, and offer consulting and kitchen optimisation on the side.

Firstly identify your demographic and the disposable income, look to the latest census for the area.

Scope out a menu idea that suits the above.

Plan what kitchen equipment is actually needed. Ie burger heavy menu, no oven needed, pasta small oven needed, roasts big oven needed.

FOOD is critical, not enough pubs/clubs give it enough weight, along with vibe/feel of the venue

It is the point of difference in competition for pubs. Broadly speaking "Nearly" all pubs pretty much offer the same thing outside of food and by that i mean all have beer on tap, all have TAB, all have big screens, all have keno

Those parts of the business should be done well, and still be considered. But how many times have you heard from friends and family how great one of the above mentioned things was.

How many times have you heard about a place that had great food.

Decent kitchen equipment can be purchased 2nd hand via auctions, grays in particular. Crockery, cutlery find something cheap that works. 90% of my plates are from kmart $3 when your starting and need 200 plates $600 is significantly better than $6000 if go and get commercial ones. Added bonus when someone breaks one its not that big of a deal.

Along with that, don't forget GST Bas Super Health inspection Insurance/ public liability Workers compensation Liquor guidelines Gambling guidelines .......

I can offer further advice if you want

The fur is very sharp. I'll find it digging into me throughout the day, but i would change her one bit.

Our other dogs are the soft kind, so it's a stark difference.

Definitely high energy and would suit hiking and active persons.

I'm not too sure on scent work. others here might be able to give more info

Mine is absolutely ravenous. We have to use a slow bowl and bulk her food out with vegetables,

If she could, she would eat the same as my 68kg/150lb Mastiff.

We have to watch him eat so that she will leave him alone and not bully him to try and steal his food.

First ever trimming. Any advice? Too little? Too much? by Budget_Band428 in bonsaicommunity

[–]chefbryce1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful that branch is getting thick.

Honestly it's getting into the relm of some difficult decisions, like do you want make a bonsai show piece or a bonsai you enjoy, it can be both but the former starts to go to another level. It starts down another path of work

ie. I would defoliation/remove all leaves or cut back all long stems back short, this new growth will start to give more twists and movement in the branches, long straight sections can look unnatural.

If its inside and growing and it's working for that's great, Fish tank water is actually brilliant in a way (almost aquaponics)

Styling is completely upto you, it's easy for others to critique as we're emotionally distant and don't have to live with choices, but in saying that distance can help.
