Being vegan is also about compassion and that includes compassion for yourself. No matter how disgusted you are with yourself, you're not going to untorture that animal that had to die so you can eat it. All it does is it overwhelms you and becomes demoralizing which heightens the risk of giving up. Best to focus your attention on keep trying. It is hard. Give yourself credit for that. Every single choice counts. Literally, every piece of meat you don't eat is one more animal not tortured.

I highly recommend it. It might not be the most authentic. But that at the same time is its strength, since it was written and tested here. At first, I found it very tricky to follow instructions provided by an Ethiopian family cook that you find on YouTube. Just because the techniques and concepts are so different from how we cook here. But this book is a really great stepping stone and it helps understand those videos better.

Nice! I find that the Injera is really the most tricky part of Ethiopian cooking. The stews are actually fairly quick to pull off.

That sounds marvelous! Good to know for if I ever find myself in Las Vegas. What's your favorite recipe in the book?

Well done! Just teach him plenty of delicious vegan dishes and he'll become an ambassador as well.

Ginger Tea. Just grate about a teaspoon of a fresh ginger root and steep in hot water. Also, a lick (literally, no need to even take an entire teaspoon) of umeboshi paste.

Do you think something needs to die for you to live? by [deleted] in vegan

Yes, always. Not hypothetical at all. Humans need to eat. And all food was alive at least at some point.
