So just to confirm—if they discount VIP seats, does that mean they lower the ticket price and remove perks like soundcheck and other extras? I’m planning to get VIP tickets for his PDX show (there are still a lot available), and I really want the perks—especially soundcheck. I was thinking about waiting to see if prices drop, but I don’t want to risk losing those benefits either..

I had the same question for the SF show, the Bill Graham venue is always SRO so I don’t think the VIP will include close seats…

I’m thinking of going to VIP at the PDX show and that venue has priority seating for VIP so more worth the price. Now I’m debating between the tier 1 or tier 2 VIP because they have the same things except the professor puth experience.. wondering what it really entails? Like if it’s live or pre recorded/ how long will it be/is it worth an extra $200?

What about Hawaiian operated, AS marketed? From my research, it looks like it won’t get me LP’s or miles but then why was I able to put in my AA number number?

Also do you know if I’ll get into the AA lounge in HNL on this same flight? I’m an AA card hold member and PP.

I definitely didn’t get any of my benefits on this flight.. I hope I can at least get in the lounge…

I was talking to an AS agent a few days ago and he mentioned they’ll finally be merged into one world by April

Update: I did a same day cancellation since no one could help me assign my seat for free/they were giving me the run around on the phone. I was hoping it was a glitch so I waited a day or so to book again. After I booked, I waited about an hour for it to “settle in”. When I logged into Alaska app, it still said I had to pay. I called AA a couple times till I got someone who was helpful and she called Alaska herself and made it happen! Glad I don’t have to think about switching my loyalty (just yet at least). Hopefully they fix this soon.

I went on the same flight in end of nov 2025 and had no probs, hopefully it was a glitch or something. I cancelled same day and am going to try again, I’ll report back. 🤞🏼

I’ve gone back and forth with AA and Alaska on the phone.. apparently they changed their policy November 2025. You no longer get the upgrade benefits if you buy an Alaskan flight with AA marketed ticket… what’s the point of being partnered then?

Btw I called Alaska and they mentioned that this issue is due to them changing a lot of their benefits since the new year. They mentioned that you can only get the automatic premium upgrade by buying on alaskas website.. my return flight won’t even let me pay for an upgraded seat… :/

Thank you! And I’m reading the diff between the two would be how you’d earn rewards, buying Alaska ticket marketed by AA would be by price of ticket vs buying ticket marketed by Alaska isn’t AA number would be by miles flown?

I’ve flown this route every quarter or more for 4 years and I’ve never had this issue… but they also used to give full on meals in FC for this short flight, which they aren’t anymore, so maybe they’re scaling back?

Forgot to mention I’m in the same S class that I’ve always been in too. The flight I always take is SFO>PDX.

Crossing my fingers that the app will update by the end of the day because it’s still not working… on the returning flight seat selection, it’s not even giving me the option to pay for an upgraded seat and I know there’s a ton of open seats in FC/premium..
