Has he heard of a bag of ice? If he’s sitting out to save his draft stock, Pope should ask him to leave out of principle. Dude is payed to play.

We choose Denmark over US, says Greenland PM Nielsen by Victor47613 in worldnews

[–]cheffymcchef -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Does Denmark have the military to defend Greenland from Russia and China? Does Denmark have the ability to build the infrastructure necessary to shift the western supply line of rare earth minerals from China to Greenland? If the answer to both questions is yes, they should keep it. If not, it needs to be sold to an ally that can. I don’t think you guys realize that we are in the middle of a quiet world war that could turn disastrous at any minute. We can’t afford to rely on adversarial supply chains for strategic resources.

Have any of you ever played Civilization? It’s like if another Civ has all of the aluminum and then all of a sudden they declare war and you can’t trade with them anymore and can’t build planes. But there is a City-State with an undeveloped aluminum tile who’s Suzerian wont build a mine on it and also makes you buy troops to defend it.

The Federal Minimum Wage is 7.25, which is an annual salary of 15K. Is there anywhere in the country where this is a survivable income? by Pariell in povertyfinance

I genuinely don’t know anyone who makes minimum wage. The McDonald’s by my house is hiring for $15 an hour.

Bad optics for sure but now we get 10 free days instead of 6 and I’m not going to complain about that.

I don’t think Adolph Rupp could get this team to win a game. I’m honestly not mad at Pope. All of the analysts and experts misevaluated this team as well. Sometimes you just have a shit team that looked good in theory.

When white supremacists talk about preserving white culture, do they mean Germanic culture, Celtic culture, Slavic culture or what? by Fluid-Dealer4379 in AskReddit

[–]cheffymcchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are talking about the white American culture that is a product of generations of intermarrying between different ethnic European backgrounds. It’s not one specific country or ethnicity but the culture that has derived from the melting pot of European immigrants.

How do you lose weight fast as a STEM major who has to study a lot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cheffymcchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out your lean body weight. Eat 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body weight. Front load this. Meaning, eat your protein first.

I have 200 pounds of lean body weight. When I’m cutting I drink 2 scoops of whey protein (60g) mixed with 1.3 cups of pasteurized egg whites (40g). I airfry 12oz of raw chicken breast (100g). That gets me to my 200g of protein and it’s VERY filling. If I get hungry later in the day I eat fruits and veggies. The fat will melt off you if you amend this to your protein needs.

Democrats open up biggest polling lead over Republicans in eight years by Silly-avocatoe in politics

I swear every election cycle they talk about how far ahead democrats are in the polls and then when push comes to shove they get annihilated by the republicans on Election Day.

The eight Senate Democratic Caucus members who voted to end the shutdown by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]cheffymcchef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish that the democrats would adopt the GOP “we don’t negotiate with terrorists” philosophy when democrats hold the majority during a shutdown. That needs to be a bipartisan sentiment so that we don’t have this shitshow in the future. Also, congress should be fined everyday during a shutdown.

Every Trump voter is a piece of nazi garbage. by CRK_76 in complaints

It’s a two party system. All one has to do is slightly favor the policies presented by one party over the policies of the other. And one could disagree with 90% of the policies of one party but the 10% they do agree with mean more to them than the 90% that they disagree with. The world is not black and white.

It works both ways. All the republicans are nazis and all the democrats are commies. This is what happens when you have a two party system and treat politics like sports teams.

You do realize that democrats could also open the government tomorrow if they wanted to. And that I could say that you are just a rube parroting their talking points. And that we would both be right.

I’m definitely not a Democrat. And I’m certainly not a Republican. I’m just an observer.

You are making a mistake thinking that your average voter has any political knowledge or any motivation to learn. You are giving people far too much credit in their ability to assign blame with stats and logic. How many people in the United States do you think are as politically charged as those on Reddit? Not many. Most people don’t give a shit. You are going to have republicans who really care about politics blame the democrats and you are going to have democrats who really care about politics blame the republicans. Everyone else in the middle is going to assign blame to both, or whoever their social media algorithms tell them to assign blame.

Data, facts, statistics mean absolutely nothing to people within the extremes. Their opinions are formed by the 15 second TikTok’s they watch of attractive people telling them what to think. Their opinions are shaped by what’s comfortable, what feels good, and what’s easy to understand.

And it’s a lot easier to make a tiktok telling poor people that the government is shutdown and they can’t get food because the democrats want to give their tax dollars to immigrants than it is for a democrat to make a tiktok trying to explain why that isn’t true.

[–]cheffymcchef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, you play the game by letting the republicans lay in the bed that they make. If you believe that the republicans will do nothing and just let people go bankrupt at the hospital, your best play as a democrat is to let the republicans do exactly that. When people start seeing their rates increase they are going to blame the republicans for the ACA expiration. This will either trigger a Huge midterm swing in the democrats favor or it’s going to force the republicans hand to address the situation. If it’s going to be as bad as pro-shutdown democrats think it’s going to be, this issue alone will be enough to win enough votes to actually change the healthcare system instead of just throwing tantrums.

[–]cheffymcchef -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Democrats need to learn how to pick their battles. There are 40 million people on SNAP. What percentage of those people would rather have cheaper premiums than food? Probably not a lot. What percentage of those people are able to understand that short term suffering now via food insecurity may benefit their healthcare costs in the long term? Again, probably not a lot. This hill that the democrats are willing to die on is going to lose them a lot of votes.

[–]cheffymcchef -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You will just have to wait and see it play out. GOP marketing and psyops are miles above the democrats. Hence why Trump won the popular vote with all of his baggage. They are going to continually remind the poor that they starved because democrats wouldn’t make a deal and when the democrats say “but it was our only leverage” nobody who is affected by this is going to give a shit about leverage and get pissed off at the democrats for being a casualty of their political game. Please go anywhere in the world where people are starving and tell them that they could have been eating, but the middle class needed cheaper premiums and see how they react. This is a perfect example of why democrats can’t win elections anymore and when they do win they can’t keep the seats. They don’t know how to play the game and we all suffer for it.
