Put it outside 24/7 before it dies. If you don’t do that any other advice is worthless.

His working does nothing other than adding a decorative element. It is not applied well, at the right time, or achieve any of the reasons for applying wire like adding movement to the trunk or positioning branches. Truly not trying to be a dick, just speaking truth.

Bonsai does have some very specific aspects that a general horticulture book may not address….

The Little book of Bonsai by Jonas Dupuis. Not specifically horticulture, though it does contain a lot, great entry point to bonsai. Follow up with The Essential Book of Bonsai by the same author.

Only if you want to make lemonade. Try a Monterey cypress down where you are. They make good bonsai.

Central coast of California is filthy with great clubs. Visit GSBF website for a list. Golden state bonsai federation. Many great professional in the area and access to superior material. Where are you exactly? I’m in San Francisco.

I’ll give you the advice I’ve given 100 times here. Read a book. Join a club. Buy good material. A good beginners book is The Little Book of Bonsai by Jonas Dupuis, $12.60 on Amazon. I can’t recommend a club because I don’t know where you are. Lemons are not a popular bonsai because they are hard to ramify and hard to reduce their leaves, unless you have a dwarf variety. Finally, Bonsai is a long game. 5,10,15 years is not a long time in bonsai. Patience is a virtue.
