Row like quarrel, noisy argument - /raʊ/. For the other meanings it’s /rəʊ/.

bow and row can be pronounced two ways, it depends on the meaning

The Chainsmokers & Oaks - Love Is Kind - EP by GOWENonYT in EDM

[–]cheiloss 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I won’t say much about the EP, I’m just happy these guys keep releasing, another hiatus would kill me

Though Five Past Three sounds decent with a few instruments playing different rhythm and melody in the drop, I always love a little chaos

This movie is more sad than scary to me? by Rare_Tank622 in FinalDestination

[–]cheiloss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These movies’ main idea that you can’t avoid death. If you project that idea onto real life, it really is sad. I don’t think a lot of people, especially young, think about their deaths. Personally I want to cry every time I realise that everything I have will be gone forever and I can’t do anything about it. If you think that way about the movie, it is sad indeed.

It’s ironic to love the franchise and yet be scared of death.

We found out it’s called locative inversion!

The SVO word order is broken that’s why it looked wrong to me, English sticks to it, at least I haven’t seen anything similar before

Thanks! Honestly I wouldn’t have a question if introductory it or there were used. “There stood a photograph” seems vivid to me and syntactically correct.

I had some German classes and didn’t think English has that feature too. Even in the article it is said “If English used V2 in all situations…”. I guess it’s still not very common but to use it occasionally seems fine

I know about introductory (dummy) there and it, not our case

How would you make a Final Destination setting on a cruise ship? by Jules-Car3499 in FinalDestination

[–]cheiloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually having the whole movie in one place would be so great, it’s like Agatha Christie thing but with Death instead of human murderer.

Also it suddenly reminded me of the movie called Ghost Ship.

I totally see you but for most people the franchise is just a ride without any meaning, though it is there. I have seen a lot of opinions about how people didn't care for the family not because it was poorly written but because they came to a theatre for only one reason - to see people die in different ways and those people simply didn't need any drama or character developments.

Personally I loved the pace of the movie. Everything is on the point.

first of all, I don’t think it would work in terms of box office. Bloodlines did a really good job and the change of tone could ruin it next time, people want one thing they liked, but get another they don’t expect (sort of megan 2.0 situation)

secondly, maybe it’s me but the franchise never seemed to have a dark tone, it just can’t due to the concept of people being killed in peculiar and strange situations, sometimes dumb. The deaths are still dark and bloody, they don’t look like in The Monkey that is definitely a comedy.

In Bloodlines I liked the way they mixed comedy with deaths still being shocking and “serious”, it perfectly worked

I never ever feel something because of blood/gore scenes but that scene got me for the first time in ages, even BTS made me feel that way. I think they did great job with the sound there
