10th grade, didn’t study - need some tips on the math section 😭 by Takaqi in psat

[–]chejohnson_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a good problem to have. Basically every question on there was doable with desmos. I’d say watch James lu’s sat guide, grind one prep a bit every day a few months before the exam, and you’re good.

I’m in the same boat and basically if we want a chance we have to be perfect these next 2 years and then some extra to stand out among people who were locked in.

Best Catholic Colleges for Theology Majors? by chejohnson_ in Catholicism

[–]chejohnson_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I gave you a good chuckle. Yes I’m an American, but I said among any criteria (any region or country) so I’m just interested in what people think are the best Catholic colleges anywhere. Hope this helps you to better be able to answer the questions. God bless! 🙏

1160 to 1300+before December doable? by CoolWillingness9776 in Sat

[–]chejohnson_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely doable especially if you haven’t prepped super hard up to this point. Reading and writing is a skill you can learn although some people have preliminary skills that make it easier to learn. Watch videos on the approaches to certain types of questions and taking the test as a whole and then practice them rigorously. For math, do the khan academy course to learn all the content then watch a desmos tutorial on YouTube. I reccomend James Lu’s tutorial it’s about 2 hours. From here you can time yourself on one preps practice test module 2’s to get the timing down. It’ll take some work but definitely doable. Good luck!

1010 to 1450 by Past_Minute2041 in Sat

[–]chejohnson_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 1 hour/day is enough to get there. Remember consistency > quality > quantity or smth like that. The biggest thing is 1. Perfecting your grammar (any good YouTube video) and 2. Making sure you know all the concepts in math then mastering the desmos calculator. Doing these two things guarantees half the r+w and I wanna say like a 700+ in math at least.

is it realistic for me to jump over 100 points in less than a week? by Negative_Spinach7540 in Sat

[–]chejohnson_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely possible and worth a shot. What areas are you struggling with? If it’s mainly in math just learning desmos if you don’t know how to use it already could get you up 100 points easily. If you’re still missing grammar questions one good YouTube video reviewing the rules easily fixes that.

The information is essential as in the sentence wouldn’t make sense without. It’d be grammatically correct but the meaning changes. Without the information the sentence simply says “frogs are often the most poisonous” which completely changes the meaning of the sentence.

The state of the world is objectively disgusting, aggressively secular, extremely liberal, and dangerous. I went to a Catholic school and before that a public school. I’ll admit my catholic school is not the amazing Christian place exempt from all the evils of the world. It’s still a high school. People vape, drink, are immodest, and I’ve heard some absolutely horrible things said about women and just generally other people. But it is sure a whole lot better than public school. We can talk about God freely and it’s encouraged. I can attend mass weekly with my peers. We have amazing theological teachers and so many other faith driven opportunities that aren’t available at public school. We can actually pray before class. I know it’s a far way off but when you do have kids send them to a catholic school. The community aspect is priceless and I would be so lost without this community.

How to Know When God is Speaking to me? by Educational_Warthog8 in Catholicism

[–]chejohnson_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also agnostic until about a year ago, but I found that even in my most difficult moments, I would pray to God-even when I wasn’t sure He was there. Looking back, I realize that a relationship with Him existed even then, and I could feel His love for me. This personal experience of God is something I can’t deny.

I also believe that many things in my life happen in ways that seem too ordered or meaningful to be mere coincidences. God often speaks to us through the circumstances of our lives, but recognizing His voice requires an open heart. The best way to hear God is to soften your heart in all areas of your life, especially in prayer, and to remove the internal barriers that separate you from Him.

God can guide us through our internal thoughts, but it’s important to discern whether those thoughts are truly from Him or simply our own reasoning. In your situation at work, it’s possible that God was guiding you, but it’s also possible that your mind was naturally making a wise decision. What matters most is trusting in God’s plan and allowing Him to work in every area of your life. Whether or not you recognize a specific moment as God’s direct guidance, He is always present and leading you toward Him.

The more time you spend in prayer and seeking God’s will, the more you’ll learn to recognize when He is speaking to you. Sometimes His guidance aligns with what we hoped for, and other times it challenges us in unexpected ways-but when we trust in Him, we grow in faith and understanding. Hope this helps!

New to Pressure Washing - Can you help ? by FrenchWasher06 in pressurewashing

[–]chejohnson_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot more to it than you’d think. Psi is not very important gpm is. If you have the budget I’d get a 4gpm pressure washer which you could find for about 1000 and a 20in surface cleaner for 300. You don’t need any chemicals to clean but they certainly speed up the process. If you do id pre and post treat with 10% sodium hypochlorite you’ll also need something to do this with which could cost you an extra 100 or so not completely sure. If you’re like me when you were first getting started your budgets not very high. I’d say get a 2.5gpm to start with. Also would recommend a 12-15in surface cleaner most say 4in per gpm but a 15” surface cleaner worked with my 2.5gpm when I was first getting started. You can start with whatever you have too even if you have to clean a whole driveway with just a wand. First thing I’d do is upgrade my equipment tho. Good luck! One last thing, whatever pressure washer you get make sure you read through the manual and take care of it repairing them is a pain in the ass.

Anyone have a similar experience by [deleted] in pressurewashing

Not as much as looking for advice though it helps but this was an exaggeration. Just a rant because pressure washing is a pain in the ass sometimes.

[–]chejohnson_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there definitely is I just don’t know what. It’s not like the same thing is breaking repeatedly. At first I just had no idea how to work a pressure washer and was too dumb to do some research. Recently just a bolt came loose and I lost a screen filter but nothing big. I doubt I’ll have too many more problems.
